1) Read the README file that came with the download or is available under the *view* tab before you download. "Downloader Beware"2) Send the developer an email if you have a problem... yes, the one in the README file.3) Give them a day or two to answer their email. 4) Using the forum to create a "complaint" instead of using an email is surely "instant gratification" for you, but it is not the same as sending an email to the developer. Ever try or witness someone else using the forum to ask NALW if you can upload a repaint of one of their items... They don't consider a post in the forum the same as an email either.5) Ask for *help* in the forum instead of complaining. It works better, honest.
IE: "Can someone convert these 1024X1024 textures to 512x512 for me?" You *will* get offers of assistance from those who know how to help.6) Don't claim metal anguish or that the uploader has slovenly testing pratices... it's just not nice and it is clear that you are not asking for help, so you won't get any... (Did I need to say that?)7) Before downloading, did you review the file contents? Text files are readable *before you download*. Sound familiar? Cool, you've read this far... I'm proud of your achievement. 8) HEY! It was a free download. It may even come *without* support. If that's a problem... there are guys at MLT, DEKOSOFT, 3DTRAINS, etc who would love to take your money and provide *real* product support (On their respective products, of course.) if that's what is really needed. SO...In summary: Complaining in the forum provides chum for all the other complainers swimming nearby so you can all have a big complaint frenzy. Whoo Hoo... such fun!Publicly stating that you have a problem with a download and that you are asking the forum for assistance will have the opposite effect. People might actually fall at your feet begging to begin helping you out.
When the price of a "product" is free, the complaint department is probably under-funded and is therefore "unstaffed".
