From a Eoropean perspective all Dash9s look the same anyway! I don't think it pays to be inward looking on trains. It is great fun to try trains from all over the world. I must admit that driving UK DMUs is not an exciting experience, but it is nice to try them now and again. My favourites are still steam trains, buts that's what I grew up with. I still remember the smell of them, and the smuts in the eyes, if you looked out of the windows. David

BN_9402: The model isn't what's for sale - it's the skins FOR the model. The extra models with the correct details for each railroad will be in a seperate, free download. If anyone will buy them can only be speculated on now, but what do I have to lose?See post #30 reguarding the flame war issue.Kurt

Can you guys over at KLW make some EMD products? The dash8 and dash9 models are good but a few EMD sd50,60,70,75,80 and 90 models would be nice for a change.Just my two cents.

I think there are still a few GE's I'd love to see, such as Grant's CNR 4 window early dash 9, or some dash 8's ( CNR and BCR ). What I really think the world needs, besides love, is more MLW's (or in Americaneze, ALCO's)! By the way, it's not been said enough, so THANKS to all you talented souls who've given us so many great models. For us who lack the ability or enthusiasm for what must make you tear your hair out at times, you really are appreciated. cheers,

These others all have another thing going for them.. It sound's like Kurt is going payware here (Hope he got the commercial version of TSM at $400 to be able to sell models) The other aforementioned models, save for the original kujufalt krap are available for the low, low price of free. So, for past history and some other various reasons which I won't go into here, I'll not be getting these, and I'd bet there are a whole slew of regulars here that won't.. I'll put my money to the Surfliner when it comes out.

Macster: I didn't say you directly flamed me. I was noting that your post (#4 on this thread) was worded in such a way to help start a flame war - which it did, starting with Kevin's reply. Train-Sim.com moderator IcyFire locks posts that contain messages that he thinks may cause a flame war to erupt. That's what I meant to point out, and that's why I noted this to Nels. I assume that the policy of locking potentially fire-hazardous posts is the norm here? Or am I missing something altogether?Anyway, on a more positive note, for those interested in this hunk of Train-Sim junk, I've put a couple more photos of it on the KLW site, which can be viewed here: http://www.jaysmarine.com/KLW_D9.htmlUnfortunatly, I have been having a bit of difficulty with the model recently - a rather odd one. It will load from the default Marias Pass starting point "Essex," however, it will give the UID error for any other starting point. Quite puzzling, but I have a feeling it's just another cranky problem that TSM v1.1 gives when it compresses all the parts together, so I'm going to be asking Abacus if they have a copy of the original TSM v1.0 that I can use.

Ok Keith, I'm looking at Brians Point of view, its a new day, I just got home from school. I read "I'm not looking forward to it at all". Buhm'dumpadooooooo, (thinking) how else could this be taken, but not as an insult? And in No way did I mention NALW, where the hell did that come from? I say this because he is a MOD. Ok wow, lol, when I posted this, I did not want to offend anyone, but simply say posting negative things helps no one. Look at the KLW group, there is more than just Kurt working on this by the looks of it, instead of posting useless stuff, give them some encouragement, cuz you know what, its nice sometimes.

Just as posting only postive things accomplishes nothing either. Just with Kurt's track record it is very hard to take it with a grain of salt. And with new people not familiar with his antics, well they should be informed. He gets upset, leaves, and TAKES his toys with him. Kevin, I'm aware of what he did. I don't agree with him leaving either, but I'm not going to hold it against all the people working on this. Believe me, I know how you feel about him doing what he did, I watched from other places when he did it .

Did they mention the terrible paint on the Kato SD70MAC? No.. Heaven forbid someone criticizes the Holy Church of Kato, but bashed the really good looking heavy mountain from Bachmann.I think you see where I'm going here.. It does no one any good to tell someone with a crappy model that it looks good.

I don't think you're saying thats a crappy model....... But SSW, my point is, you can criticize without saying something nasty. Suggesting improvements is one thing, bashing is another alltogether. Lets drop this now, its over, obviously no good will come of this.

I don't think anyone said this was a krappy model.
In fact most of us recognize Kurt as having above average talents...
Unfortunately his behavior, especially when he thinks he is being picked on or doesn't get his way, has alienated many of the more Senior members on this board, Yours truly included!
For strictly that reason Heck might freeze over at about the time I personally download or use anything of his....And as a bonafide UP Licensee I will certainly report any product he (or anyone else for that matter) puts out absent a license and any perceived attempt to circumvent the UP licensing procedures and regulations (you know "I'll give you the UP skins for free but charge you $300 for the model")...

You don't seem to understand. Chicago Northwestern and its associated logos are now TRADEMARKED BY UNION PACIFIC, along with Southern Pacific, Cotton Belt, Missouri-Kansas-Texas, The Alton and Southern, and American Refrigerated Transit, Western Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and their associated logos are also trademarked by Union Pacific.Any users of these railroads and their associated logos MUST be licensed by Union Pacific Railroad to use the logos.. So ANY UP Family road you produce MUST be licensed by UP, and if you charge for any other UP family road, UP gets 3% of UP family roads or 1/2 of 1 % of total sales.

Seems like a dubious attempt to circumvent the UP requirements.As to an earlier post - The law on copywrites and trademarks is murky at best. I have noticed hoppers and cars still in old schemes and some with new paint jobs with CNW on them. UP can argue, and I think successfully, that the marks are still in "common" use and therefore not abandoned.Kevin Arceneaux
