Apr-04-01, 05:18 PM (EST) "Night Screenshots" After carefull inspecting of the latest screenshots posted on Train Simulator Fun Site, which included few night scenes, I came to the conclusion that in this area the Kuju designers didn't succeed too much. There is some lack of realism in the night illumination, including lack of desired shadows by the frontal and rather directional ray of light from GP38-2, there is absolute lack of any enviromental illumination like street lights or car lights. The buildings are strangely fully illuminated. OK, maybe it's a technical beta, but I don't think there is enough time to add all these features. It seems to me that the design team concentrated on the train operational reality and omit some of other attributes.
Finally, for me the most important attribute (or lack of it)are the statick people in the windows and on the platforms.
How sad and depressing is to stop and "empty" passenger train by the "unpopulated" platform.Adam Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-04-01, 06:16 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Night Screenshots" G'day Adam,Well I do understand your point but do not expect far too much from the Train Sim's first round. I think as long as they get the railway rollingstock and the sounds pretty near, it will be great. Anyway the static people etc will come to life WHEN those un-sung programming heroes go to work on the Sim itself for us chaps to enjoy mostly for free.
Here is my opportunity to say THANKS to ALL those dedicated people.Try to remember WHAT FltSim looked like when it first appeared, so this first version of Train Sim will start off 1,000 percent better to start off anyway.Being an Ex retired Life long Railway ground shunter myself, I will probably find it a little bit hard not to be too judgemental, like the life long experienced Pilots with FltSim.
We just got to be patient.John Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-05-01, 09:45 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Night Screenshots" That's exactly right...the sim is only a framework for others to build on. Who knows what the 3rd party developers will figure out how to add? FS2000 has things added to it that no one would have ever imagined when it first came out.Just as long as they get the basic functions working right we'll be OK. It's really hard to get picky about night shadows and stuff on the first release.

Apr-19-01, 00:36 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Night Screenshots" And hey, maybe it's just like FS2000, and a couple of months later microsoft will release a patch for it to add night shadows and other stuff. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
