I have done a search and came up with no answers on this utility.I would like to know how you can change a parameter in a large number of wag files all at once.I am trying to change the Break value but I can only change it one car at a time.Must be doing something wrong while using EngMod otherwise I might as well go into each wag file separately and change the values. From the post I have read it seems that you can change a value for many cars all at once.
If this has been adressed before please point me the post concering EngMod.
Thank You
Roger

RE: Eng Mod Question

Thanks for the quick reply Kevin. Now all I need to know is how to do it.I just can not figure out how you change a parameter for more than one car at a time? I have tried all kinds of things but I still can't get it.

RE: Eng Mod Question

Pick either eng or wag files, highlight the first one and the either Ctrl+left click one the other ones. If you want to do them all highlight the first, scroll to the bottom and Shift+left click and highlight them all. Choose the parameter you want to edit for them and enter it on the one line EXACTLY how you want the values.Kevin Arceneaux

LAST EDITED ON Sep-07-03 AT 08:56 AM (EDT)

KevinI noticed that for, say, COUPLERS, most pieces have 2 values, but some have only 1. When you choose the item to replace WITH, and select ALL pieces, , how does EngMod get it right? I have the uneducated feeling that in a piece that only has ONE coupler value, I would end up with TWO values. Thanks,
Ted

RE: Eng Mod Question

Hi Ted,EngMod can only replace a value that is there. By that I mean that EngMod MUST find a value first, then do a replacement, so it cannot 'insert' lines.Derek

RE: Eng Mod Question

Derek,So, if I want to change a BREAK value to "5e7N 5e7N", .....I would select the pieces to be checked, say with "3.1e7N 3.1e7N"
.....New Value "5e7N 5e7N"Only those files/pieces with a "3.1e7N 3.1e7N" would be changed to "5e7N 5e7N"? Any with "3.2e7N 3.2e7N" would be left unchanged? And those with "3.1e7N 0" would also be unchanged?Seems contrary to what a mass change should be.Ted

RE: Eng Mod Question

That would mean having to identify each unit to be changed first of all, and then run through the list in Engmod doing a
CTRL/left click on each one. A lot of work that that can go wrong if you get the sequence wrong. The mass change works by clicking on the top unit in the list, scroll down to the last unit and do a Shift/left click to highlight all of them. Change the value that you want to modify in the new value line and hit the Change value button.mervyn@madasafish.com

RE: Eng Mod Question

That's different now.If I selected the file in the abve, all of them would be change to the NEW value. Even "3.1e7N 0", "5.1e7N 5.1e7N", "3.2e7N 3.2e7N"Doing the first change, if I had the file clicked on, I would now have a file with only one coupler setting to go along with the original "3.1e7N 0" changed to "5e7N 5e7N". This second invalid seting for that particular piece wouldn't stop it from going into the Sim?T

RE: Eng Mod Question

Hi Ted,I am not aware of any problems caused by changing the single coupler values to double coupler values. I have always changed ALL of mine.Derek
