Hi there, maybe you could help me, when driving the HHP-8 the train makes a full-stop every few minutes. In the report it says emergency brake and after this full power shutdown ('ve got the German game, maybe I translated it in another way then MS). Any idea why this happens?

You might have been exceeding the speed limits for that stretch of track. It's designed to prevent fatalities. but with blood and gore absent form games like MSTS, It happens on the real thing, you exceed the authorized speed the emergency bnrakes automatically apply. Speed limits aer there for a reason, and this is not the ICE either. Although I'd like to run some ICE trains I'll wait until MSTS 2 comes out
Ya - if it happens regardless of the speed you are going at, your alerter is turned on. You can disable the alerter in the settings area while at the menu screen (where you select what route you want to run and what train, etc.)
You have to respond to the alerter by hitting the Z key every few seconds. This is required even if you're looking at other views (passenger, outside, trackside, etc.).

Hi Holodoc, Jim & all- yes, sounds like the alerter ("Totmannschaltung" in German ~Dead Man's Switch) being turned on. You can turn it off in the general settings of the game, the same screen where you also select the settings for graphics, the derail option etc.- If you want to leave the alerter on, you need to press the alerter button regularily to reset it as soon as you do not touch either the throttle or the brakes for more than 20 (?) seconds. The alerter can also be reset via the keyboard, but... Yes, there is a but to it, many here will not be aware of... For the majority of the English speakers here on the forum it is pretty clear that the "z" key will reset the alerter - on an English keyboard. On german keyboards for example, this is the key for a "y", in any case the one sitting to the left of the "x" which has found a pretty universal position on any keyboard ergardless of the language. I wondered for a long time why resetting my alerter with "z" as mentioned in the fora didn't work - until it dawned on me that you guys have English keyboards Man, did I laugh at my stupidity. (Background info: As the "y" is used pretty often in English as opposed to other languages where it is very rarely used apart for some exotic technical or medical terms, the "Z" and "Y" had already changed places in the age of typewriters in some countries, and it stayed this way with the arrival of computer keyboards - although these can easily be switched from one language setting to the other).Thought that might avoid some confusion...Lukas a.k.a Swissie
Thanks@all (very kind community here I have to say ) Yes I remember I got the "penalty brake application" on the cockpitmonitor so you should be right, will test this out today .
