I just got the Cajon Pass from 3Dtrainstuff the other day, and I'm running into trouble with a activity I made. I made a activity of a ATSF stack train going from Mojave to Barstow, but when ever I stop at a stop signal, I get that message saying I did not protect a crossing at level grade. This only happens after I've stopped. Such as at the east signal at Boron where I was to meet a westbound. Just as a note... After I stopped at the signal at east Boron, I pressed the 3 button to ensure I was in the clear of the main track. When I pushed the 2 button to go back to the headend, thats when I get message. This has happend every time I run the activity. Any idea's? I know this happens if you miss a crossing while moving, but like I said, I'm stopped. Thanks

Put it in 8 and let it fly!

RE: New to Cajon Pass

Hi Tb4jyCajon pass uses the so-called "CrashProbability" feature with (almost?) all grade crossings. That means if you do not blow the whistle or horn in time, the session is terminated (i.e. you forgetting to blow the horn has caused an accident).Few routes use that option any more because a lot of users complained about it, which again has triggered lengthy debates on realism of the ga... eeerh simulation. If you do a search for the terms Cajon *and* CrashProbability, you should find a number of posts that instruct you on how to manually change the settings on the affected tiles in the World folder of the route. Be warned though that this takes quite some time, as there are a lot of tiles in Cajon...Lukas a.k.a Swissie

You may be stopped across a grade crossing. When you move from the rear of the train to the front and cross a grade crossing, MSTS might consider that "movement" and gig you for it. There was a discussion here recently about what files to edit to clear up the "didn't signal at grade crossing" that would probably fix your problem.Edit: What Swissie said.Kurt

Have you got the latest patch from 3Dtrainsstuff? It takes out all but 1 of them. Not sure which one it didn't take out, it has been posted here before. Is this one of my activities? I have one where you nedd to wait for a while, but there is a popup telling you to stop short of the road crossing.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: New to Cajon Pass

Thanks for the feedback. I'm running with version 1.60. I will check for updates as well as the manual fix in the world folder. As long as it can be fixed, I don't mind.

RE: New to Cajon Pass

I did make a list of all the .w files that needed to be modified, but sorry to say, I must have deleted it from my computer. Otherwise I'd send it along!!!

RE: New to Cajon Pass

Hi all,IIRC from an older post, it is something short of 70 .w files that need to be edited, and I thought somewhere in all those archived files was a detailed list. No luck so far searching for it...Anyway, it can be done without the list (have done so myself)- back-up the entire Cajon/world folder somewhere save first. Mucho importante. Hint: Zipping up the entire folder in one zip-file - which can stay inside the Cajon-folder - is a good method to savely store the back-up, as you will not overwrite any of its files that easily by accident.
- Then start to edit all .w files inside Cajon/world. Open each .w file with WordPad.
- Hit ctrl+F, type or copy/paste: CrashProbability into the pop-up search box (no spaces), press search.
- If WordPad finds a grade crossing with CrashProbability, it will jump to the correct line in the file and highlight it for you. Change value in bracket from 10 to 0.
- Note, .w files with grade crossings tend to have inbetween 2 and 6 settings that you need to adjust (depending on the number of crossings and the number of tracks). So continue your search till you get the message that the entire file has been searched
- Save and continue with the next tile. Estimated time to complete: 1 - 2 hours with the search function, 30 minutes if that original list came up again.Lukas a.k.a Swissie

RE: New to Cajon Pass

I am attaching the list that I made of the .w files that contained the CrashProbability ( 10 ) string. Also, referencing Kevin's comment above on a patch, I think he is refering to a MapleLeaf Tracks patch to Sandpatch. The one crossing that was missed on Sandpatch was at MP 204 as I recall.Don Hughes

RE: New to Cajon Pass

Yup, that's exactly what I did when I removed all the horn blowing necessities for the crossings on Cajon. I did make the list, and did make it available via private e-mail (as I felt publishing it publicly might stir up the pot with the route's authors).Unfortunately, my brain forgets where it went on the computer -- or actually OFF the computer, as I remembered the filename but searching was futile.I concur about the location of the crossing on Sandpatch....somewhere around 204-205.
