<snip: "More Canadian routes rally cry">Nahhh... we don't need no more of them there Cannuck routes... we need this New Yawker route. Seriously: I've enjoyed KHP2 much more than I thought I would. So I'm looking forward to the D&H route. Plus... can we but hope for some nice sounds and cabviews on the level of the excellent MLT SD/GP sounds/cabviews for the new MLT Alco's in the D&H screenie???? Hey, I could DIG chugging some Alco's up through the Adirondacks!!It's a given it will be purchased by ol' Coonskin.Since finally trying some payware routes, I love it: THEY do all the work, and *I* get to enjoy the fruits of their labor! Packaged deal: Point/click. Slam dunk. Go play on a new route with new trains. Gotta' love it.Andre

Yawn. Another route probably with great scenery and tracks, but that starts nowhere and ends nowhere with limited oppurtunities for operations. I have both KHP's and Sandpatch and will pass on this as I wish I had on KHP2. Kevin Arceneaux

LAST EDITED ON Jul-02-03 AT 04:22 PM (EDT)

I'm kind of with Kevin on this one....~waits to be hit by streetcar~, my biggest gripe about KHP2 is the freaking route ends in the middle of nowhere. No yard, no station, and barely a passing siding. However, I will be interested to see what they come up with, and I will certainlly buy it the day it comes out as it will be nice to have something new like a D&H route in New York, my soon to be new home.As for the CN route that is rumored, I can only assume it is taking longer to complete, if indeed it is in the works. Hopefully later this summer we might see the likes of it.Can't wait. Still enjoying TP II, and now a D&H route, and the still to come Surfliner route......Chris Bogley

RE: MLT has a new NY route - The Bridge Line

If I could add in a little comment here. I am pleased to see so many interested in this route, and I will try to get more information available as soon as I can. I did take a hard look at Kevin's comments. It wasn't insulting, but more of a reminder of an issue our team has already discussed. One of the things we have stipulated, since the release of KHP2, is to make sure that all of our routes go from somewhere, to somewhere. In the case of the D&H Bridge Line, it goes from a good sized railyard with B&M interchange in Mechanicville, to another good sized yard in Schenectady (Mohawk Yard) with a major interchange with Conrail, and finally to another large yard in Oneonta. In between, there are several small towns with small yards and online industry. I don't think there will be any problems with making decent operational activities. (See Map below)I know the map is pretty hard to decipher, but it gives you a decent idea. The blur of text at right is Mechanicville, the blur to the left of that is Schenectady, Mohawk Yard, the Conrail Yard, GE plant, and former ALCo spurs. At far left is Oneonta yard; and in between are several small towns and industry spurs.Regards,
Jason@MLT

Jason,
You're killing me, I may as well just send you my visa card. One great route after another The only comment I have is please update the GE sounds. The GE sounds on Sandpatch and LS&I sound more like the Goodyear Blimp than a U-Boat, other than that, keep up the great work. Thanks,
Rich S.

RE: MLT has a new NY route - The Bridge Line

Contrary to some of the comments made about this route (“starts nowhere and ends nowhere with limited opportunities for operations”) the route starts at Mechanicville, NY which in the 1970’s had a good size yard (with a hump on the B&M side). The route runs to Oneonta, NY which in the 1970’s also had a decent size yard (with a hump also). Mohawk yard was a very busy place with blocks of cars being set off and picked up between trains coming down from Canada and trains coming up from Scranton, PA and Binghamton, NY. You also had pushers added here and removed for the grade out of Schenectady and Richmondville. There were also locals that ran south out of Mohawk and North out of Oneonta. Between Mechanicville and Crescent (old QS tower) there was joint trackage between the D&H and B&M. This segment of track was also used for a period of time in the 1970’s for passenger trains running between Albany and Montreal (with D&H PA’s). The route starts at Mechanicville and ends at Oneonta because this was a crew district in the 1970’s for the D&H. The majority of trains during this period would start at Mechanicville and would complete their trip at Oneonta. The trains would get a new crew for the trip down the Penn Division to Scranton. So as you can see this route is hardly lacking in operational opportunities.

Hooray! More railroading in the East! Of course, from my perspective, there's a chance of something very nice happening here, and it all has to do with some motive power that the Delaware & Hudson was the last in the United States to operate. Of course, it's too early to get hopes up, but I'd sure love to see a certain nearly-extinct car body diesel in the route. I'm looking forward to buying this one when it comes out. Thanks to MLT for being the only route-making group that I'm aware of which serves the Eastern market.

Just dig up some info about the modern D&H, but you may want to take it with a grain of salt:<< From a reliable source who will remain unnamed but gave me permission to post
this:>>CPR sent out solicitations of interest for companies interested in
leasing the D&H on this past Monday. Letters of interest are due July
9. Bids are due Aug 9. An operator is supposed to be chosen by
September.<<Guess it's time to get out there and get your CP SD40-2s and such before time
is up! Wouldn't mind the D&H becoming independent once again though if
that's a possibility!>>>

Well, it does look good....Longest route now eh?Also, if you have the subs..It is good to include a yard at eachend so you can at least stage.... I love KHP2, but I just dont like how it just ends, to bad we couldn't have the whole siding at a backtrack.....ChrisChris Wilson

>that's a possibility!>>> Yup I've read that rumor as well, don't know what will happen with it though. CP's been talking about getting rid of the D&H for a couple of years, then they seem to drop it only to pick it up again later. Don't know who'll end up with it though, CSX would only be interested in a small portion of it, as would NS so that wouldn't entirely fit CP's plan. I doubt Guillford would be at all interested as they were the ones who put it into the hole in the first place. So we'll have to see. I suspect no one will make CP the offer their hoping for and things will continue as is, though it would be nice to see it independent again, and the lightning stripes running rampant through NY.
James.P.S. As for the route, as has been said, there are indeed a lot of yards around.

I really think NS would want the D&H, as you may know already NS has a big trackage rights deal with CP on the D&H from Binghamton to Sunbury, PA. So far 6 trains are currently using these trackage rights, all of which were moved off NS's own ex-PRR Buffalo Line (Buffalo-Harrisburg, PA) which I live not even a mile from. All that goes through here now is two wayfreights that each run three times a week on alternating days and 1-2 daily locals. On-line buisness on this line is so bad now that the wayfreights usually never have more than 20 cars on them, and sometimes it's just light power.
