Mr. Nelson, your Super Chief has just won the honor of being the only Santa Fe unit that I'll allow in my fleet of otherwise Eastern locomotives and passenger trains. Moreover, you've managed to, almost singlehandedly, fulfill a wish I'd had for Train Simulator since I got it. All I need now to match a picture I've had in an ancient book is an F7A numbered 26, and a bunch of double-decker passenger cars that look suspiciously like early Superliners of some sort, and I'll have an image I've had since I was a kid. Thanks a lot! Order's been placed, and I'm waiting on the codes. Keep up the good work!

Doh!That fact, however inconvenient, doesn't make me regret this purchase a whit. I've run a little with one of the consists on the Bucket, and it's a beaut. I consider it twelve dollars well-spent, just like every ten dollars I've spent (probably too many!) on your F-units has been well-spent. Besides, I'm always happy to have more stainless steel passenger coaches! Thanks for for releasing this set, and maybe sales'll be good enough to justify an El Capitan set soon?

Looks nice Marc. Okay heres a dummy question from one who doesn't know much about the Super Chief. How does this set differ from the one that was included with Cajon Pass ?....apart from the greater number of rolling stock and engines included.

Models currently building:
Queensland Rail 1300 Class
Queensland Rail Diesel Tilt Train
Tasrail ZC Class
Tasrail Z/ZA/ZB Classes
Tasrail D/DQ/DC Classes

>How does this set differ from the one that was included with Cajon Pass?Major difference is that Cajon used v2.0 models, and the new set is based on the v3 ones. The other difference is in the graphics (fidelity, color-corrections, etc.), and thanks to Scott Miller, have the proper mip-levels applied also. Cheers!

>How does this set differ from the one that was included with Cajon Pass?....apart from the greater number of rolling stock and
engines included. Their a big improvement over what came with the original Cajon Pass in that they now use the v3.0 of the F's. There also is a lot more variety included, each car (36) and engine (13) is individualized and distinct. They also mesh well with the existing ATSF superpack different road numbers so even more variety especially for activities.

Looks like they're mis-mapped from the windows - I remember seeing this once before, but only when the detail sliders weren't set to max detail. I'll have a look.FWIW, I almost missed this post. You would be better off posting glitches or issues about the set in the F-Unit forum. After all, that's what it's there for. Cheers!

Yes - basic white light. Some units (SP, for example) used two lights: one red and one white. Location varied from road to road, and were usually applied in the shops. Cheers!

Prototype or model?
If were talking about prototype, me being a NY boy, I like NYC's grey lighting scheme alot, But no one can so no to a delicious bowl of santa-fe o's.. ermm.. pardon me.. got a little theatrical there But seriously, Santa Fe's warbonnet is a very attractive scheme, I gotta say it's a toss up between NYC's grey lightning and the war bonnet.. I'd like to see a kodachrome warbonnet on a F unit

I say the 20th Century Limited wins for having the paint scheme (the best color cominations for a train at that) continue from the engines all the way to the observation car. I never liked plain silver for a train. Looks like a bad copy of the Burlington Zephyr.

RE: 3DTrains: Super Chief Trainsets Available

technically, it would be reverse about the chief and zephyr. the super chief was running stainless steel coaches with e1's in 1939 .....10 years before the california zephyr even existed....but stainless steel was popular because it was easier to maintain moneywise and astetics. paint shcemes need occasional patch jobs and repaints ......stainless steel didn't.....it was an economy thing for some railroads, especially in the south and west, who didn't want to put alot of money into an already ailing industry. that is why paint schemes on f-units got simpler ........costs less ......the 20th century and daylight were rare examples of survivors that kept complex paint schemes when everyone else was going to simpler, cheaper liveries.3DTrains: Super Chief Trainsets Available – image 58Hauling America one pixel at a time

I bet he's talking about the CB&Q's Pioneer Zephyr trainset from 1934, but then again, maybe he's not. Nevertheless, let me take this (perhaps another) opportunity to thank Messrs. Hemb & Nelson for their recent releases. They are both fine examples of their respective genres, and I am proud to have them in my collection.
