Done with MSTS – image 1

Well, after several months of debating and thinking, my wife has decided to pursue her doctorate degree out of state. As a result, I have had a major shift in priorities. Simply put, this means that I have about a year left to spend with family (specifically a niece and nephew that I adore) before we head 600 miles away for 4-5 years. So, I regret to announce that I am done with MSTS. I've enjoyed meeting and learning from the folks here, and offering a few meager reskins to the pot. Most of you won't care about this post (I'm sure it will even draw a couple of flames! ), but I thought I'd put it in here anyway as a "tribute" for those who might be interested. Also, for what it's worth, I have put my MSTS disks on Ebay. So, if anyone needs a backup copy or something, please head over and bid on my used (but well taken care of) copy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3532332192&category=11051&rd=1
(boy, was that shameless, or what!?! )
Of course MSTS2 is right around the corner and once my wife gets settled into school, I'm sure I'll have plenty of free "bachelor" time, so I'll probably see you all again. . . Thanks all, but especially to Ken Wright, John Peterson, and Jerry Sullivan- -the first two for gently showing me the way and Jerry for providing the way with the Clinchfield routes. Well, enough of that- -goodbye and have FUN!

RE: Done with MSTS

Kevin, Like you I wish Clayton and his wife good luck and the best in what they plan to do. I do take issue with "That Sucks". I think Clayton has given much thought to his priorities and decided family is more important right now then MSTS. It is his decision and I am sure he is satisified with it. Clayton if I am wrong let us know.

Fairly new here, so I don't really know you, but I hate to see anyone have to go. Don't know why you have to get rid of MSTS, though. I personally would keep it for later. Anyway, I wish you the best for you and your family.

RE: Done with MSTS

I don't really understand this. You mean you don't think you'll have 30 minutes, late in the evening, to play? A little quiet time for yourself? Its just a hobby - you can play it a little here and there, depending on your time.Sorry, I just don't understand your reasons.Your choice, either way.BV-

RE: Done with MSTS

I thank you for your contributions to MSTS and wish you well on your endeavours. There are things far more important than MSTS, and this is surely one of them. I wish you and your family good luck, and maybe we'll get to see you again one day. But do drop by whenever you have the chance.

Go ahead and flame me, but I HAVE to agree with Bluevoss. After 2 weeks, you'll be crying for MSTS. I have before. In China, to be specififc. Oh, well. Good luck, salutations, and later days. We'll miss you, man.

Wow Clayton - this is a real shock! You have always been here (if you know what I mean!). It's a shame that we're going to lose you this way, but I reckon everyone will join me in welcoming you back when the time's right. I wish you all the best in the meantime to you and your family.Drat - just when I thought FLS repaints were on the up as well! Cheers

Yep, in a way Kevin's right- -this does suck. But I don't regret it. I don't expect the "naysayers" to understand. This is just a personal decision. It's all about timing, and the timing is right, at least for an extended break. I appreciate all the kind words from you guys- -not really wanting to create a scene here, but nice to know you guys are out there. Keep keeping everybody on their toes, Kevin. Woof woof! Hey Marc, sorry I couldn't help out much with the Interstate route, but if you need any leg work or "on the ground" work done from a "local," send me an e-mail. Tim (and all of NALW), thanks for the great works of art you guys produce- -one of the few things I actually got to play with rather than work on (present company excluded)! John, gotta love the old GEs you turn out- -keep em chugging! Ken, the FLS and SCL will live FOREVER! Later, guys.
