Yes, it's me again.I'm running the ADFBR-MRM-Local-1 activity and I'm lost in which direction I'm to move my train after picking the cars up at the start. I've looked at the maps and followed the read me's, but when I pull forward, after backing up to cancel the reverse arrow (as per the conductor) I've tried to go forward only to have a red signal or move backward only to see the great scenery, but off the path. Thanks again all. I'll be in Northern New Jersey all day watching the real trains, so I'll get back to any posts tomorrow.MikeMaybe the new MSTS will have a way of licking all the routes together for one super route!

Mike when you you pulled out of the engine house you should have eventually crossed over to the Yard North 2 track. Be sure and clear the reversing point going forward. When it is completely gone from your track monitor, then back up into the consist waiting for you. After picking them up, you might backup just a bit more to make sure the reverse point is cleared there also. I have the feeling this is where you're red is coming from. After doing that you will pull forward about .2 mile from the forward signal, which is red (again, making sure to clear the reverse point). Then back up and you should be crossing back to the M&RM South Lead. Keep backing until you are again within .2 mile or so of the red that is behind you (clearing the reverse point), start forward and you should be green to go forward and left.I debated about using reverse points here at the beginning (since they are not really even needed), but decided to go ahead and use them for the first part of the activity to get everyone on the right track (pun intended) However, once you get to Schloggerville, most of the switching from then on, inside the industrial tracks is left up to you.If this doesn't help, come back and we'll try again. RE: ADFRR activity

Rob,Thanks for the help. But, as things go with me, I'm still stuck. I followed your instructions to the 'T'. I got my consist, move back to clear the reverse point, pulling forward, need to wait for the Long West train to pass, tab the red signal, but the reverse arrow never clears - I'm going all the way up the rightside tracks to the end of the double track and the arrow keeps moving ahead of me! I tried to go back onto the south lead, but a red signal will not let me through to the needed path.Mike

RE: ADFRR activity

Mike,
I've had this happen on other activities and here is how I solved the problem. If you have saved any time for this activity delete all the saves. For some reason MSTS likes to look for saved copies of some activities even if you start from the beginning. Then exit MSTS, reboot your system and start MSTS again. Hope this helps.Ken

How did I survive before MSTS

RE: ADFRR activity

Thanks, Ken. That doesn't work either.Rob, Ok, now that I read your instructions better (duh), I stopped BEFORE the first red signal, problem again is that the arrow doesn't disappear. I reversed and switched over to the south lead at the point where I came from the engine house. Reversed all the way back on the south lead to and past the red signal still the arrow will not go away! If I try to move out and up the lead to go to the left, I get a red that I can't 'tab' through. That is where I stand now. Myself and my conductor await your instructions to get out of this mess.Mike

Mike, if it would help my email addy is robertr@adfrr.com.Detailed instructions by step. Don't change any of the switches since they will be done for you automatically until you get to Schloggerville If you're not sure where you are going use the '7' key for the yard view to get your bearings, but don't touch the 'g' for the switches.#1. Pulling forward you should be switched to the right through the M&RM crossover and end up a little past the switch on the 2nd track to the right where there will be a reverse point. (Yard track 2, I believe)#2. Go far enough to completely clear this from the track monitor. This is only a couple hundred yards from where you are starting from. If you don't completely clear any of these nothing after that will work.#3. Back up on the same track to pick up the consist. Back up slightly after picking them up to make sure the reverse point is cleared.#4. Pull forward almost to the red straight in front of you, again clearing the reverse point completely.#5. Backup (which will back you through the crossover going left to the main long track on the left side, M&RM South Yard) almost to the red until you clear the reverse point again.#6. When you start forward you should have a green and arrow for diverging towards the end of the track and you should be on your way.{EDIT} Mike I just reread the above and .."But, as things go with me, I'm still stuck. I followed your instructions to the 'T'. I got my consist, move back to clear the reverse point, pulling forward, need to wait for the Long West train to pass, tab the red signal,"You shouldn't even be close to the Long West Train. It is on the other side of the 'autocars', two tracks away if I remember correctly. Sounds like you may have gone all the way to the end and then tried to back into them, but you crossover as soon as you come off the engine house track and backup shortly after the switch.RobertR ..
