Hi all,I am hoping for some help with a problem I have when installing routes.I have installed MSTS with all 6 routes as default.I donwloaded "Warrington Railways" route from UKTrainSim.com, and once installed clicked on the InstallMe.bat file to copy the required files from the other routes.Everything appears to be fine until I start MSTS, the oute is not listed. I checked the WCML.trk file to see if the Name line was complete, all appeared to be in order. This has also happened with other routes.I have uninstalled MSTS and re-installed several times now, I get different results each time. Anyone any idea what's going on please? Many thanks in advance for your help or assistance.Regards,Paul.

RE: Missing Routes

I don't know about the routes that you installed but, does it require X tracks? I know in some US route that it may require X tracks. You might want to check the readme for those route and see it if requires x tracks.Ken

RE: Missing Routes

Just had a quick look and you will have no Activities, paths, or services folders, all essential for a route to work 'out of the box'.Make a folder under Wcml called Paths and unzip this attachment into it. While you are there also make two more new folders under Wcml called Activities and Services. Now the route should run and you will have some paths available for explore route.mervyn@madasafish.com

RE: Missing Routes

Paul - Have you checked the route with RouteRiter? Surprisngly, even payware will come up missing files. If you don't have RouteRiter, download it and use it. When it starts listing missing files (it almost certainly will) do NOT click yes to replacement. Repeat: Click NO to everything, at the end of the analysis you can save the errors - missing files report to a .txt file. Possibly there is a problem with Route ID and Route Name, I've had it happen however that did not prevent the route from showing up in MSTS.Tell ya what I would do, just to be sure: Check every default route with RouteRiter, you may be missing some files there which should have been copied to the new route. In any event, check the route with RouteRiter, JIm Ward still doesn't understand the second part of this, all the same here goes again: RouteRiter is the best thing to come along since cannned beer and sliced bread. Instant hall of fame, doesn't have to use cork in it's bat, either.Bing

LAST EDITED ON Jun-25-03 AT 03:10 AM (EDT)

Addendum: 1) Make sure you do not have nested folders within the MSTS Routes section. That will produce the kind of error you outline.2) There is a pecuiarity of some British routes that when they are packaged, the path does NOT begin with C:\. You must point the route .exe TO your system root folder. Unpackaging to a spare directory, then moving the files to MSTS Routes ection does not work, I tried it and goofed up more than one Brit route unitl I caught on. No idea why they do this, and you won't find a clear explanation either, not in the route Readme files of the three I had trouble with; I happened to stumble across the info on a forum. First time I have seen this - it is obvious it can lead to trouble. What happens, from what I've seen, is the .BAT file won't copy properly (!) - likely it can't find some of the files because the root C:\ or equivalent was not "pointed to" during basic installation. I know this is confusing, but there it is. Happened to find out what was wrong by accident. Wonder how many users never found the cause? Bing

RE: Missing Routes

I don't live there any more, but the Cubs will always have a place in my heart. "Remind" the locals? Who is it that follows baseball or turns on the TV in Chicagoland who doesn't know about it? Whether or not we believe him, it was in the words of the immortal Casey Stengel "only moderately bright". Casey's words were applied to a rookie, for a veteran such as Sosa there can't be an excuse, despite what he says. Sammy is OK, don't get me wrong. Like most people, I have always liked Sammy. He isn't and never will be an Albert Bell - like Lou Holtz, Sammy says the right things at the right time. Well, almost always. Do we believe him? He has enough natural power not to need a corked bat, but it certainly makes his record suspect. Always will. Sammy will never live it down. For that, he has no one to blame but himself. Far more important, the Cubs are in first place in their division, have managed to stay there for an extended period of time, these absolutely are not, in the words of Rick Sutcliffe "your father's Cubs". Perhaps at long last the Siannis billy goat curse has been broken. For God's sake, Cubs pitchers are hitting home runs. Bing

RE: Missing Routes

Right, Bing -- and the balls are not your father's balls, either. Hmmmm, that didn't come out the way I meant it. Everybody hits home runs now, including overpaid humpty-dumpty players who would be buried deep in the lower minor leagues, except for the fact that the original sixteen teams of my youth have been greedily expanded to thirty-two (the last time I looked). Everyone of those expansion teams needs twenty-five warm bodies to fill the uniforms and field a "major league" team. A huge dilution of talent. Many of these no-name mediocrities are paid more for one season than DiMaggio, Williams and Feller earned, combined, in their entire careers.Anthony
