A GREAT change of pace.I just ran it from Barstow to Mojave on Cajon Pass and got it up to 143mph, although it's redlined at 135.It brought back some vivid memories for me.In the mid 70s I worked for Air Research Corp. at the DOT Test Track near Pueblo Colorado. I was an instrumentation technician and pilot for the LIMRV (Linear Induction Motor Research Vehicle) which used a turbine engine to power an alternator that provided current for a linear induction motor. The motor was a saddle of coils that fit over a vertical reaction rail...a motor that, in effect, had no moving parts. It worked much like your electric meter works except that the disk was a vertical aluminum fin that ran down the center of the track. For a time that vehicle held the world speed record for steel wheels on rails, about 230mph. We ran it manned for tests up to 190mph and remotely at test speeds above that.In the latter phases of the testing we installed two Hound Dog missle engines on the sides to increase acceleration to reach the higher speeds since we only had 7 miles of track. Once we attained the test speed we'd cut the Hound Dog engines back to flight idle and run with the LIM only. Thanks NALW....your rendition of the Bombardier Jet Train is close enough to the LIMRV to bring back some fond memories.Noel

RE: NALW Jet-Train.....

Yep. It's the bullet shaped one with the two jet engines hanging on the side. The big one was a Grumman air cushion vehicle that was also a linear induction motor testbed. It ran in a concrete guideway. It was also an Air Research motor in the Grumman vehicle. I assisted in the installation of that one. There is still a dent in the nose of the LIMRV that was the result of a collision with an owl at 100+ mph. I wasn't operating it at the time, another operator was. It scared the bejeezus out of him.Noel

That is the highest Signal Speed MAS for the NEC which is what we set that cab up for....
You will see that red line change as signals change in front of you...I believe we are also set to redline at 30mph and 45mph with the proper approach signals set and it will redline at 0 for restricting...Chuck Schneider

RE: NALW Jet-Train.....

I do have one complaint Chuck. The dynamic brake doesn't seem to work. I've tried it from the keyboard, my RailDriver, and the mouse. The combined handle stops at the center of travel and won't move anymore. I assume there is supposed to be a dynmaic brake by the looks of the amp meter and the fact that the combined handle throttle is 0% at the center of its travel.Noel

Which given the limitations of the MSTS1 Engine do not allow you to manually control the dynamics....How they are implemented in the Physics Engine is that you apply brakes and the computer decides how much of each type (DB and AB) to use.... mostly what you will see is some type of air applied and the ammeters twitching slightly as the computer steps in and out of dynamics.... Its obviously more complicated than that but that is the simple explanation.... They are working "as designed:!

RE: NALW Jet-Train.....

Chuck:
Just downloaded the jet train. A BEAUTY. Clean crisp lines. I'm a Via rail guy up here and I was just wondering - Why the Via New colors for the head engine and not for the rear? It's a train set isn't it. They should match just like the Amtrak set? I've been on the passanger cars and the newer VIA coaches look more like the one you used for the Amtrak (F5 key). Can We change them around? I don't think VIA would use a flag/logo cloth for a headrest. Also as a suggestion - since there is no pantograph on these engines - why not use the (P key) to open and close the doors on the coaches. Would make a nice added touch when at a station!!
As for the jet sounds; they could be a little louder on the outside and as u pick up the pace the pitch should change a bit more or be more prnounced.
Other than the above items; I'm very happy with this new addition. It is very well done. The engines (at least on my monitor) looks very real. Almost like looking at a 3d photo. Much thanks to you and your team. Great job.William D.

Remember these are from marketing brochures and drawings as only the 1 power car really exists at the moment...>It's a train set isn't it. They should match just like the

And you can mix and match to your personal hearts desire using conbuilder or the MSTS Consist Builder....
Also as a suggestion -
>since there is no pantograph on these engines - why not use
>the (P key) to open and close the doors on the coaches.
>Would make a nice added touch when at a station!! That function only works on electric trains and since the jet train is defined as a "diesel" to MSTS the physics engine does not allow that animation to work...> As for the jet sounds; they could be a little louder on the

>bit more or be more pronounced. I already made them louder than Bombardier has the real ones for creative effect And the pitch difference between partial and full is more than the real ones according to BBD...
However you can look at the SMS files and play with the "pitch offset" and volume on your copy....> Other than the above items; I'm very happy with this new

RE: NALW Jet-Train.....

It is under consideration by Florida, Canada, California and the HSR hub out of Chicago.PS I still can't see my engines...has anyone else had this happen? I can see the cab interiors from external view but the shell is missing? What is up with that? All sliders maxed...what about the resolution..I have seen some engines that have used a higher resolution (I think) and have gotten the same result...ThanksBPFlorida Railfan Page
