Hello,This is my first time here and I hope I picked the correct forum to ask this question. Please be kind. I have been looking at the instruction to install maglev2.zip and there appears to me to be an omission in the Readme.txt file. The Readme says:Installation - Train.1 Extract the Transrapid 07 Folder to your Trains/Trainset Directory.2 Extract the Transrapid 07.con file to your Consist Directory.3 Copy or alias the sound folder from the HHP directory....I have done steps 1 and 2, but step 3 is vague. I see the HHP directory, but copy or alias it to what? Where?Further, the second part of the Readme.txt is also confusing. If I may, take each one step by step:Installation - Track.1 Prepare a new route in Geometry Extractor and give it a name....Is this necessary? I also downloaded mglvrt.zip (a simple circle track which requires mglvrt.zip installed). I had planned to just run the MagLev on the circle track.2 Extract all .s and .sd files to ...Train Simulator / Global /
Shapes folder...I can see this might be necessary for mglvrt.zip to work correctly.3 Extract tsection.dat to the ...Train Simulator / Global folder.
(MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL)...Does this mean that when I am not using the MagLev, I need to switch the file back to the original?4 Extract GwayTex.ace file to the "Textures Folder" in the "new
route" you just made, ie: Train Simulator/ ROUTES / New Route....If I didn't make a new route, do I still need to do this?5 Build a small route with the guideway in the route editor....I'm certainly not that advanced yet. I did search in all the forums and could not find any one else who had the same problem. So I guess I'm an idiot or no one installed maglev2. I tend to thing the former is more accurate. If anyone could give me some clues, it would be much appreciated.Like to thank the mods for the forum, and Craig Scott for the train and route. As well all the other TS users. On a side note, I'm not that much of a "game" player, but I have enjoyed the last couple of weeks playing TS. It is turning out to be a lot of fun. Thanks for reading, Purk

Hi, this is an old an tricky installation with some consequences you should know about, more about that later.>Hello,

>HHP directory, but copy or alias it to what? Where? The train should use the sounds from the HHP. This can be done in to ways, either copy all of the files to the transrapid making a new sound folder in that. In the .eng file of the transrapid find everi instance where a .sms file is found (2 times) and correct those to the names of the files found in the new sound folder. Since you now have a complete copy of the files without any alteration this wastes space. The other option is to use the .sms files found in the HHP/sound directory directly without copying, this saves space. To do that instead of making a new sound folder you should open the transrapid .eng file and change those .sms entries to reference the HHP files by entering "../../HHP/SOUND/HHPEng.sms" and "../../HHP/SOUND/HHPCab.sms", this is called aliasing.>

>Purk Keep in mind those warning about needing to switch not only the tsection.dat but also a number of routes if you have used any other track package. If you have the space available a second MSTS installation for the Maglev route might be a better option. Just copy the whole Train Simulator folder and you can delete routes and trains not needed to save some space.Good luck!

RE: I need some help installing maglev2.zip

Hi,>Hi, this is an old an tricky installation with some
>consequences you should know about, more about that later. I've read your instructions, and have saved them to file. I see what you mean by this being an 'old tricky installation'. For a circle track, it's almost seems not worth the effort.I will try and play around with it, but I don't have the space to make a second installation of MSTS, so I will likely remove this afterwards. My memory is short and I will likely forget to switch things out and then will wonder why MSTS is crashing. I don't want that to be my next post in here. >The route builders forum would probably have been better but

>the qonsequences for routes that I stated above. The only other route I've tried is SeaView2 (Thanks to Bill Burnett). I had downloaded that some time back, but because of some computer problems (which lasted awhile) and some other thing - I was only just recently able to try it out. That installed quite nicely and didn't require much more than 'Hey, click this'. After a few moments it was ready.I looked at the readme for the Maglev and thought to myself, "I should be able to figure this out". Because I already had SV2 installed and working, I thought, maybe I could use that as a guide. Now I see that it would have been nearly impossible based solely on the Maglev readme. So, I was being a bit hard on myself for not figure it out.I take it that SV2 is new enough that it doesn't require switching anything around beforehand? It seems to work fine, tho, it is a bit CPU intensive.>Another reason the forums does not yield much is this download

RE: I need some help installing maglev2.zip

The freeware guidways track sections are just straight and curved sections of track.. no stitches ... MSTS will not support a circle track lay out ....a reverse loop is possable but not with the Maglev tracks (no switches)...The route Maglev 2005 Casino Express by Abacus ( payware) has more track sections and switches in it.. NOT Compatable with the freeware
version ... It also has its own T section file and is not compatable with any route that uses Xtracks or updated t section filesAs the previous post says if you want to run Maglev trains and have the room on your computer a second msts instalation is best..
