Aug-06-01, 11:42 AM (EST) "worried" i just got train sim and it rocks, so i went to trainsim.com to download something, after visiting some other sites, i noticed that there are way to many comercial products to be released. It worries me seeing this early on that allready so many sites have gone comercial, that we wont have any nice trains for free anymore. it shouldnt start to turn out like the FS scene where the amount of comercial products is getting more and more, and freeware is getting less and less.
this is my personal opinion, and if someone gets offended,it wasnt my intention Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-14-01, 08:09 PM (EST) 11. "RE: worried" In time, i would like to create as much Amtrak from the 1980's on up as i can. Right now, i am still learning A LOT! That is why my baggage car has taken so long. However, i am wondering if you are referring to a different loco. The P-42 (aka Genesis aka AMD103) comes with the game and has already been re-worked to be driveable. I cannot re-paint it into anything other than Amtrak Phase III as MS texture mapping bites. For some reason, the peice of the cab between the windshield and the side windows is pulled from the middle of the body! I will get a much better version of it done that should be fairly straightforward to repaint, but that is a baggage car, F40PH, and AEM7 away!------- BUZZ Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-06-01, 06:00 PM (EST) 3. "RE: worried" Some people have such short memories...You should hope it DOES turn out like the flightsim world, where there is more free stuff now than there ever was in the past. There is also more good payware stuff now than ever. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-07-01, 09:01 AM (EST) 4. "RE: worried" maybe it should turn out like the FS world in someways (i do hope that there will be more respect in the TS world than FS world), but then again, all those very good payware products are all out of alot of peoples grasps, why, because most of the people out there including me are under 18 and dont have credit cards. meaning that these products cant be purchased by us. It's easy for people above 18 to say that there is only sunshine in the sky concerning both TS and FS. And yes, if i had my own credit card i would say yes, i would be able to buy great high quality products, but unfortunatly that isn't the case.
please dont act so mad about this post, it's just my opinion! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-14-01, 05:06 PM (EST) 8. "RE: PAYWARE IS FAIR" I can't see what the problem is with some people regarding payware. Just because it's available on the net doesn't have to mean it's free. It supposed to be forward-moving technology and buying stuff on the net is part of that.I reckon you have to ask the question: If I was in a S/ware shop and saw this item in a box on a shelf would I buy it? S/shots are not always helpful, and are nearly always flattering to the subject, so the box a/w is not always a great guide as to quality of content. Like most bits of software you buy you are always taking a chance - even well known brand names have been known to turn out rubbish now and then(!)If I knew I was getting something I wanted - and especially if it included the bmp and tga a/w, I don't think it's unreasonable to pay a price for it. If someone wants to do it for FREE, then that's even better. The bottom line is, just how grabbing is this community going to get? Does the MSTS community really expect people to work for maybe hundreds of hours for free just to suit their cravings? Is that fair or even realistic?Anyway, that's my theory about dinosaurs...... Cheers

those who can't, complain.
I for one want to thank all the artists, and you are artists, for all the time and effort spent on some fantastic rolling stock and locomotives. If there is a charge for somthing I like, so be it. Heck if I had all the money I spent on computer games, thru the years. thanksDenisky Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-15-01, 01:33 AM (EST) 13. "RE: PAYWARE IS FAIR" Well sadly they really wasted there money from what I've seen there are programs of much less cost a reasonable $50. And from the looks a great product to be released Abacus who has released great products for Flightsim. So maybe you should be complaining about how little foresight you had.Andrew Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
