Calling All Dummies!

Activity Packs – image 5

Default is not just for dummies!! An activity with default rolling stock allows users to bypass the kinds of problems I list here ... (not to criticize but to save others some frustration) I understand the only way to absolutely avoid such glitches would be to not offer any activities! Yours truly has so far not been able to craft one single original activity what to speak of route ... so please take these comments as they are intended I am more than grateful ... but hey I just have to respectfully interact on these items!I have listed my corrections where I was able, but hope for some other reader to come along and help with the problems listed here which remain in this tempting set of fine activities: In the “DL file,” (which means apparently “download file” and is an RTF)The call for 40-48PK.zip was found by me under "48-40PK2.zip"ChessPcars.zip will not work unless you go for singular ... not plural (“car”, not cars)in3bay.zip not found by meAt Desksoft I did not see a search window and I did not see the required 7 locomotives ... are they payware? I was able to download a coil car set from Desksoft though the file name did not match coil_co.Use the corrections above to save yourself some trouble! If you have answers to questions which remain post ‘em up!Respectfullyjivajiva

RE: Calling All Dummies!

Yes, most of the engines are Deko payware!Of course you failed to mention that, with your initial post. Default is for dummies, Kevarcs activities are for gullible people! LOL!Norbet did the best activity ever for the NEC4, you are just after the money. What percentage are you on?David

Not a single nickle. I use what I want. Until you get your facts right, keep keep your fingers in your pants and not on the keyboard. My post said nothing about payware, but if the readme says deko, you can bet it will be Chip's payware. If you don't like it, tough $hit.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Calling All Dummies!

I think my facts are correct. Why should newbies be aware that Deko is payware. I don't wear pants, is that a problem? LOL!Personally, I think your activities are totally boring, and I have never seen anyone praise them. There have been quite a few good activity creators, but you are not one of them. In addition, you often misspell additions required, which makes the whole process even worse. David

As they are no longer here on TS anymore, I don't think you need to worry about them. Only those that want them will go get them.No pants? You a pervert also? BTW, I want to thank you. You, all by yourselve, made the choice easy for me to move my activity packs and their support to 3Dtrains. I hope the rest of the community thanks you also.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Calling All Dummies!

Activity Packs – image 9

Now wait just a second! I saw some free ware at Desk Soft ... and ... if the other engines are payware, I was only asking ... look ... in the first place ... If DeskSoft is selling it, it is worth it. (My personal feeling). In the second place, if certain engines are not to be had for what ever reason, we can substitute. In the third place, if any of this is unpalatable or unworkaroundable ... we can simply bypass. Now, I’ve got a fourth place ... those who generate activities are making product a lot like those who craft routes in as much as each is different and replete with personality and style. The Port Ogden, (great traffic) the SeaView series (great fantastic) ... the famous routes of Rich Garber and Co (earnest and real) .... so many ... so different and yet ... withal so much a like.We (I) treasure these differences. I believe these differences include many of us end users here. There are those among us who are caustic, some are quick tempered, some are patient, some (like me) appear obsequious, but in truth are closet fools. Computers are to me a prosthesis. I was issued what was yester year this fabulous setup by the Veterans Administration. The MSTS is one “game” which allows me some kind of “non work” past time. I’m living through Nec 4, Marias 3.1 and or whatever. (Including this board)You are all like invisible family to me. I dream if world war broke out, there would be enough of “us” to completely dispel notions of destruction ... that “enemies of peace” would wake up and find themselves all alone, and that it is us ... at these keyboards ... with and without pants ... who truly and rightly are in the majority. When I see an activity by Kevin, I’m glad because I know it is going to be “rough” and I know it is going to be worth it ... if I can get it going!Sometimes I fail to find a way to run the offerings of Dr. Kevin A ... when I have success, as I said, it is always worth it. I went into this thread to try to bring and win some clarification because this latest activity pack looks REAL good.No one should despair ... including the authors. If someone has work arounds for the Payware stuff ... post them here. If someone feels all this is just too much and it is time to complain ... your truly feel that should be OK too.One thing that is NOT OK is for Kevin to fall under the misapprehension that his (and other’s) work is not very deeply and profoundly appreciated (If not NEEDED) right here.Could we go back to Q&A? “Can’t we all just ... Get Along?” Respectfullyjivajiva

RE: Calling All Dummies!

Very nicely put, if I may say so. Especially as English is not your first language. The sentiments certainly came across OK.As for "getting along", that will never happen and never has done, for as long as history has been recorded. While there is religous, ethnic, racist, you name it, intolerance, their will be wars. In addition, both the US and UK still
accept "persecuted immigrants", almost as a matter of course, when clearly a lot of them, are not what they seem. A lot of the Western world might regard themselves as sophisticated ( main definition: false), there are many countries which are more or less in the Middle ages, except they have laptops! When you consider that the US produced some of the wierdest Religious cults on the planet, in the 1800s (Jehovahs Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Scientists, Scientology, to name but a few), all claiming to be the one and only true religion, you have to think: some of them are wrong! LOL! So you expect harmony on this forum? It would be nice, but I doubt it will happen.David

Scale Tipping

Activity Packs – image 10

Hello! "One other note, edit the Dekosoft eng files and add holding to the one brake line near the end of the file"$28.95 cents later, I have downloaded the required files from Desksoft. Gee ... I could have purchased the entire Kicking Horse Route for this much! And an entire day (so far) just searching unzipping placing and praying. I do begin to wonder about the cause and or value of my own enthusiam. Instructions included state that we should add holding to the one brake line near the end of the desksoft eng files. What does this mean? Add the word “holding?” Do this on each of the desksoft eng files? Is “holding” some parameter known to Dr. Kevin A and many others? Does holding mean a set of numbers? Each of the wonderful looking activities comes with its own read me text and a large list of needed files. Should these lists be added to the already provided DL list? Implementing Dr. K’s work is like solving a mystery. The daunting cloud over my head is that I know if one thing is wrong all may go far away ... MSTS perhaps ... Feeling pretty stupid here!! Any advice very welcome as I plod on into the wishing wishing night! Didn’t I have kind of a life going on elsewhere? But the thing is, I’m looking at possibly securing many new activities for two truly boss routes. If this does not come true, yours truly WILL learn to create my own activities. I think that may be the underlying idea: Which takes more time and heart out of your life? Deciphering a Dr. Kevin A activity ... or learning to create my own. The scale is tipping!! Very great! Thanks for the link! I’m sure this will help in my quest to unravel your wonderful post! I’m thinking this has got to be worth the work and deciphering and I thank you for sharing!! And by the way ... downloading all this extra stock just means (if your activities don’t work for me) that I’ll at least have lots of hand picked extra stock! And ...DTW ... I've sent you mail! RE: See How You Are?

Great!!I was wondering about the same thing and you asked the question for me. Thanks. Now I can hardly wait to plunge into these activities. For me anyway, a big part of the fun when getting activities from the web is the acquriing of rolling stocks and motive power and the learning that comes with it---both train sim and computer software. Also tailoring with activity glitches (when present) to make them more smooth is quite relaxing and satisfying. Also quite satisfying is getting the help I need when I do run into something I cannot handle myself. The interactions I've had in this forum and others have been quite rewarding.I also want to give my thanks to all of those who donate their activities, equipment, routes and time to this hobby. I really appreciate it. Steve

Tomato Ice Cream

Activity Packs – image 13

Please help! Find two lists after this post. The list on top references two days worth of work and about $30 to Desksoft. I have secured and installed this stock. It is very nice. I’m glad I did it. I tried to run just one activity in this pack for starters ... dj12 ... but MSTS said “uh uh you’re not done yet ...” and tried to call home. With each activity in the pack is a list of additional rolling stock. The second list here, below the first one, is the list of stock required for just one activity: dj12 ... not only does the list consist of an additional 55 items ... but they are simply cited by *.wag file ... the job then is to 1. See which items match the list of items I already have ... I believe I’ll have to search for each *wag file in my trainset directory ... and if that *wag file does not show up here then I’ll need to divine what zip file is referenced by what *wag file, and then I’ll need to determine if that file is indeed here at Trainsim.com. If it is not here ... then I'll have to find out where on the internet it might be.This is an arch truckload and a half ... just to secure and run only this first activity.Norfolk Southern 856 for example, by contrast, on the other hand, if I may, with your permission, is sweet and simple.Am I one of those asking for free frozen ice cream? Apparently I may be ... this flavor seems ... well ... tomato? Any concrete (not ice cream flavor) advice or tips on how to sort and implement this huge and tempting train load of material would really be appreciated ... probably not just by me!I’m not criticizing ... I’m struggling! Lists follow. (Again, the bottom list is just for this single activity out of the whole pack load the top list is items I have just finished obtaining ... will it be necessary to do the same dance for each of these activities by Dr. Kevin A?And ... an aside on a personal note ... a few times here good folks have mentioned that English is not my first language ... while you may by my name and lilt assume I’m from some other planet ... Actually I was born and raised in New York New York. My mother is from Cleveland ... my father from Kentucky. When asked to volunteer ethnicity on various forms, my honest response is African American. Der Lists Below!Respectfully jivajiva

Activity Packs – image 15

LAST EDITED ON Jun-18-03 AT 06:06 PM (EDT)

Dear Dear Dr. K!You are kind to answer so quickly. Item by item:The GTX, B&O, BO, CO, C&O, TT, and WM come with Sandpatch That’s great!! NW_airslide, chescab, CRPbox, NSPbox, pchopper, 43-45 Dekosoft, Does this mean the above items are at Desk Soft? Is chescab part of one of the beautiful locomotives I already downloaded from there? (My first list) What is “43-45?” Items from my list above? If they are the SD 40s ... are they not on my already secured list? (First list)I’m telling you ... getting this stuff to run here is kind of fun ... so the activity itself must be virtual solid gold!! Soutlide, chessb&o, elhp2.zip - in chessie1Dllist in the Sandpatch folderThen ... I already have these? (My First list in previous “tomato flavor” post)No ... elhp2.zip is not in there (EDIT: Yes it is! Yes it is! ... which means I'm MORE confused) End Edit) Soutlide is ... been there done that got it. chessb&o? Yeah yeah!! Got it! Thank you! ChessPcars - should be chespcar.zip 10 -4!! Over? GON14IN1.zip
6gons.zipWhat of these two above? You’ve typed them in .. I am supposing this means I should add them to the list and download them and they are available here ... but then... you say I’ve found 4 missing zips! ?? (Not 2)pchoppermt - wag file in extra folder I think I read somewhere that these are to be placed in the appropriate folder as per your dl list ... But when I search for that text in the dl list I do not find those files. I do not understand what to do with the *wag files in your extra folder. There is no matching appropriate folder in the dl list that I can see. Nor is there matching text in my trainset folder. Thanks, you are the first to find the 4 missing zips.
I will upload a revised DL list.Ah GOOD!! Another list!! I’m laughing I’m laughing!! I hope you are smiling too!! Knowing me ... I’ll get lists confused ...
I have a Kevin folder here! Believe me! Lots of people around this planet may have folders with your name on them!! OK but now .. For each of these activities of yours, is there a fresh list of intriguing rolling stock to download? Listed by (shudder) *wag file? What of the *.wag file lists? How am I to interpret these? I should assume a “*.wag file” IS the name of the stock itself ... usually ... probably ... hopefullyPoint of information ... when I look at dj12.con in the Conbuilder, why ... it’s all yellow letters and black squares. No one home. Hey ... Ken, Sir! Am I almost there? Are we almost home yet? Thanks for not thinking the worst of my entreaties here! You are helping ... very mush!! “Mush” as in “I feel drunk and exhausted!!” If you are not out of patience yet ... neither am I. This is your fault, Doctor, for posting such goodies! Thanks again. Don’t leave me now! To discuss like this is not meant as any kind of attack ... the sharing is intended to help others!! To me ... and I hope to you ... this is part of the glory of this Train-sim.com. Respectfullyjivajiva

RE: SD 40-2 Pro at Desksoft

This message thread has let me know that for the time being I will NOT be running Kevin's activities. I would rather be runnin' than going on a quest for files. Kevin, what reason is there for all the different wagons and locos used in your activities? You do not seem the "type" to do something without a reason. I could understand it if you were creating activities just for your personal use. Grab your favorites and use them. But these activities have been released to the community, and satifying their equipment requirements appears to be quite a task in itself. I am not trying to be a smart a__ about this. I would like to know how, in your opinion, the extensive equipment requirements add to the running of the activity? I will use your answer as information to allow me to justify the effort required for me to be able to run your activities. I am sure that you have a reason for this, I would just like to know what it is. Thanks. Joe Morris

I use what I want to. Period. If you folks don't want to that is fine, then don't dl them. I prefer the era of the 70's and 80's. Default just doesn't cut it. There are other freeware engines out there that can be used in place of the ones I used. These activites are not released here, but at 3DTrains. Yes, there are a lot of Dl's. But they are used in over 10 activites, and the larger files are used in other packs, look at the DL list for the LV activites and the ones for the NEC\Sandpatch. Most of the stock is the same. In fact, if you look at all of my activity packs a lot of the same files are used in all of them, the only things that change are the engines. I like Dekosoft engines, so I use them, never said the activites will not work if YOU don't. And no, I do not make a nickle off of Chip for using them. What is the difference of dling 50 cars and engines for 11 activities and 6 for 1? Not a damned thing. It does amaze me that he is the only one that seems to have trouble. I have nothing in anywhere else; posts, emails or my forum. My beta testers seemed to be able to find everything, why he can't beats me. I think he is either being a prize a$$hole or dumber than a fence post. Many of the same cars were used in other activities and I had very few posts or emails about finding the equipment. Like I said before, if you don't like it, don't DL them. That is not to hard is it? Umlike many, I don't check the DL count every 5 minutes to see how many times it has been dled. I don't care if it is 1 or 500. I'll leave this thread, you can post what you want.Kevin Arceneaux

Kevin Leaves Thread

Activity Packs – image 18

Hello. First of all ... I am kind of dumb and I am probably guilty of that other name Dr. K suggests may be appropriate ... I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I do not see myself as suave or smart or anything like that! I kind of like the idea of downloading lots of stuff ... it is like unraveling a mystery to me. Yes yes it can be daunting but Dr. Kevin A’s material is (when decipherable by me) very nice.As for what could be wrong with ME ... as indicated ... probably lots. As for why Kevin doesn’t get many other queries ... I don’t know ... One problem in communication often springs from assuming others know what you know. Not knowing what Kevin knows does not make me dumb ... (though as I said, I am smart enough to know I am quite stupid) Here’s a specific example ... (which Kevin may not see as he has stated that he is “leaving” this thread.) One item called for in this group is “NW_airslide” Entering that text in the “search for text” window in the file library yields: nw_alide.zip I ask if this is indeed the same file. ‘Course I could (and did) download it and install it and see what happens ... but we’re talking lots and lots of (respectfully) vague and imprecise references. I don’t mind ... I like to try to figure these things out ... again I am dumb for sure but not because I need help here sometimes ... More like I’m dumb for the same reason any one else may occasionally exhibit stupidity ... doing things I know I shouldn’t etc ... Taking more than a year to begin to grasp C ++ .... going the first third of my life as a Pall Mall smoking atheist ... whatever!! If Kevin has had enough of this and chooses to leave this thread ... so be it! No hard feelings! Yours truly has not deliberately shared some kind of feigned confusion ... which may be what Kevin means by his posterior flavored pejorative. I’ve very sincerely invested lots of time and money in the suggested downloads and in posting the difficulties I’ve encountered.Just as I’m free to take on a Kevin A (and friends) activity ... OR NOT “obviously” Dr. K is free to assist OR NOT. I’m glad for the help offered here so far! I think not having the SD 40 -2 Pro series may be key. If this gets unraveled by me ... I’ll post back here Respectfullyjivajiva

RE: Kevin Leaves Thread

Sorry, it is the fustration on my part coming through.A couple of things I do want to make clear.
1. I try very hard NOT to use payware engines where they can not be readily changed by the end user. In other words I try only to use them in player or AI consists, not in loose consists. Yes, I use Deko's, but that is because I like them, no other reason. Until people start paying me do create them, I will use what I want.
2. As I said before in this thread and many others. I prefer to do activites in earlier era's. I also hate to see the same car over and over again in a consist. Other than unit trains and some intermodals and grain trains, you do not see the same car over and over.
3. Usually I get quite a few emails if there is a problem with a dl or something in setting up an activity. For this pack I have recieved none. I, again, would like to thank my beta testers for this.Case does not matter, NW or nw, in the trainset them sim does not care. Neither does the DL section. If you notice on the list files page it is in small case, but if you go to the view page it is in caps. When I am verifing that it is the correct DL, I always go to this page to check the files in the DL. At times, as in the NW car, this is where I copy the zip file name. You will also notice the font is different for this zip in the DL list and for others.Kevin Arceneaux

Activity Packs – image 22

Got it. Don’t ask me how ... one interesting thing ... some big folders with assortments of cars need to be kind of manually unpacked (I think) with their own folders ... named after the concomitant *.wag file. Some do (apparently) not. Anyway between all the various tools available here one activity ... the dj12 in Sandpatch I think it is called is here and running and ready to go. The Desk Soft locomotives are beautiful. The rolling stock is extraordinary and variegated. I love it.
Even when I’m able to cobble together my own activity one day, I won’t be able to produce stuff like this for a long time!Respectfullyjiva OUT (“have” to go drive a train)

RE: All Aboard

I very seldom use car packs that need more than one folder. The car packs I did from earlier skins by a multitute of skinners. I go in and rename the file names and then edit the s, sd, and wag files so that they can find the right files. I did this to help keep the seperate downloads down and reduce the number of folders in the trainset folder. BTW, any others who want to use them in their activities are more than welcomed.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Kevin Leaves Thread

Not everyone is savvy when it comes to activity making let alone transposing consists. I see 2 potential problems concerning using Kevins' activities from users. 1. Downloading (or buying) the required stock items. 2. Knowing how to "transpose" consists with the equivelant power and stock items. I, myself, change out the required stock if I do not have the stock called out in the activity. I do not consisder this a hard task; neither an annoyance of changing things to work. But...I only do this if I really want to run the activity. In other words, I am not "forced" nor is my arm twisted into submission. I might be compelled sometimes but only at the hands of curiousity. The 2 items I mentioned above can be a "pain" for some. I can see this clearly from many posts from various forums. However, I do not see this as some sort of "conspiricy" on Kevin's part, but a sense of style from Kevin. Not everyone will like his style. For me, I do not bat an eye on how he makes his activities nor do I judge their content. I am no Activity guru, so I will leave the "judging" to the other guru's. As stated before in this thread, one does not have to download his activities. If one were comfortable with the requirements and needs to make the activity work, more power to them. I also see others that noted these requirements as "bothersome" only because of the 2 reasons above. Personally, if one were to d/l an activity from Kevin and enjoyed the activity after doing the requirements needed to run, then the activity maker succeeded in sharing their like for the Sim. I also noticed that Kevarc also lists the requirements of the proposed activities. Sometimes methinks certain folks do not read the required docs before d/l'ing and therefore are disappointed after the download when it is too late and realizing that they are "short" on certain equipment. This wouldn't be a bad time for some to learn the Consist editor or Conbuilder to transpose the consists. Changing the consists doesn't necessarily change the activitys' content nor it's integrity. Anyway...that's my take on things. The bottom line is you do not have to d/l'd anything if it doesn't "float your boat" or needs certain items to complete a specific scenario. The activities have their lists of requirements; either get the required stock to play or just move on to the next thing that tickles your fancy. But for me, it's just another "style" of activity making and it's not for everyone.KipActivity Packs – image 24

RE: SD 40-2 Pro at Desksoft

Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. I think that I understand. On my n-scale layout I would often find a way to change the numbers on my otherwise identical model locos in MU lashups, and would do the same thing with boxcars, hoppers, etc. (anything that I ran more than one of in a train ).. Many thought I was crazy for doing that tiny decal work when it wasn't easy to see for most people looking at my model layout. In MSTS, my "thing" right now is getting rid of the default GP-38 cab everywhere it should be gone. I feel stupid looking out that window driving an F unit or RS-3. So I think I understand where you are coming from.
At the same time, I could not recommend your activities to someone new to MSTS. Now I understand that you probably don't disagree with that. Joe Morris

RE: SD 40-2 Pro at Desksoft

I fully understand the cabviews. It has got so bad with me that I cannot use any of the flat looking views. That and the sounds are the first two things I change.I really don't think it is a matter if a person if new to MSTS. IMNSHO, it is more that person's competancy with file management in Windows. This sim was so bad out of the box that to improve it, you must DL things from here and other sites. When I dled my first engine and looked at the installation instructions and I saw unzip to a temp folder, I almost wanted to cry. I have never used a temp folder as I always seem to forget where I put the thing. One of the first things I do with a new computer or drive, is create a downloads directory to download to. With MSTS I quickly realized that I needed to have a seperate folder to DL to and unzip to. This way I KNOW what I need to tweak and edit before I move it into my trainset folder. Even ones with autoinstallers I redirect to my trainstuff folder. This sim, if nothing else will teach a person how to manage files.Kevin Arceneaux

Create a downloads directory? It is called my downloads, and is the default folder anyway. You can do what you like from there. There is no real need to create anything other than what exists. you don't have to use the temp folder option, so perhaps u should look more carefully.I have just been looking at the downloads from your activities and those from SVTS. They are miniscule to say the least. Have either of you reached 3 figures yet? On this site and others, there are loads of activities that go well over 1000, perhaps because they work! There are some routes that are downloaded more, and they have activities included!I think most of the good activity creators have left this forum, because of your arrogance and one line replies. Neither you or SVTS make interesting activities, and the latter ones don't even work.Having seen what can be done on the NEC4, you don't even come in the frame.David

Dear Dr Kenvin's activities are famous! They only require incredible numbers of downloads, but many of the named downloads are misnamed! And, if thats not good enough, Dr Kenvin is even more than willing, after the minor detail of the downlaoding, to require that you put up with BOORING activities! Hows that grab you? Then if you complain that you spent all this time hunting up the required downloads, esp the time spent where he used an incorrect zip, he says "Tough sh*t" What a guy! Got to love him, right? You better as if you don't and express your displeasure he will come and do you! Bad! Kevin is Bad! Kevin is very Bad!And whats even better than all of the above is that if you mention that there is a problem with one of his activities, he will just shine you on! What a guy! Don't you just love him! Super, almost super man, don't you think!Just what we need, another assh*le presenting himself as god's only answer to what we need!Anyway, thanks, but no thanks Dr Kevin, I will not be wasting me time downloading any more of your so called activities "better mentioned as so called exercisies in frustration and regret at time wasted."Thanks so very much Dr K,Dwayne

Your arguments just lack a little in logic Alias (who?). LOL!First of all, try to spell a little better; and I don't use my mouth to write on here.Your main argument seems to be that I have no right to criticise, because I do not create activities of my own. That is wrong on 2 counts:Do you ask a restaurant critic to be a chef? Do you ask motoring writers to build cars? Music critics to be able to play music?
But you listen to their advice.I have created activities, but only for the UK sites, and my ID here is totally separate. I have done activities for the US routes, but they have a lot of extras required, so I don't upload them. I can send you my 6.5 hour activity for the original Marias pass route, with KHP trains required, but would you want it? Personally, I would prefer to download default activities, so that I can make them what I want.Re KHP, I criticised it, then apologised, although I still think it runs a bit slow at times.Re MSTS2 I know all the routes, except for any changes, but as I have already stated, I am not passing anything else on.And to KUJU/Microsoft, who are sending me all sorts of spyware, don't bother, I use a totally different Vocal telephone line for my info! Its somewhat boring, but I use lol rather than emoticons, cause I hate them.If you cannot spell correctly that is not my problem. As for hypocritical moron, I doubt you could have the two together, as morons by definition, could not be hypocritical. People who use insults automatically lose the argument by doing so.You make assumptions of what the examples of critics should be, when none of them are like that in real life, and their are loads more I could add. I did not say I listened to their advice. You did.If you want the Marias pass activity I will send it. As long as you have the original KHP it should work. It is for the original Marias route. If you were to say " You know Kevin your activity may be better if you did the following Yeah, sure he would! LMAO! He would humbly reply: yes you might be right there, or he might say something negative with one syllable. The runs slow on KHP, was about the speed limits, not the speed on my PC.As for your last statement, it defies belief. If you don't know how much info Microsoft trawls from your PC, you are extremely naive. And don't tell me about your firewall and antivirus, because the Microsoft software you have installed is already set up to bypass all of that.Just to give you an example, the windows xp firewall is good at getting rid of outside attacks, but it is totally open to Microsoft, because they built it! If they want to find the boring stuff I have on my PC, good luck to them. DavidDavid

Kevarc,I have loaded the SFlong activity (cajon pass) and I almost have it running. One problem is that how do I get US2Coal_atsf file? The zip file "atsfcoal" doesn't work in the www.train-sim.com file library. Also, for your own info, you have a wrong file (MV player.con)in the "SFlong" zip file that may cause some distress in others. The lack of the atsf coal file is the only thing keeping me from enjoying your activity. I can hardly wait! Thanks,Steve

I have been reading this thread and I am appalled at the nastiness and petty attacking of Kevarc. He has been nothing but helpful to me and others, and he comes right to the point, which I admire. It seems to me that people who write long, hateful posts would be better off running their trains.
