Can overhead freight switching yard views, including the labels, be printed out, or are they otherwise available? I am new to v1.0, with limited experience in RR Master and Tycoon.Thanks-Herb

Freight Yard Overhead View Printouts? – image 1

For all I know the overhead yard view is only available on the Marias pass. While in a yard press the 7 key to access the yard view and well, the only thing would be to zoom out press F6 (or was it F7?) and then press the 'print screen' key this will get you a screenhot in the MSTS folder. But maybe someone else got a better solution?

Best regards,
Richard.

Thanks Richard. Now I have to find out (again) how to print screen, as the key isn't useable by itself in XP-Home.Herb

Herb - HyprSnap and SnagIt - either one - will do better screen captures than you might ever imagine. I have used HyperSnap for years; for instance, I can take a "region" shot of just that portion of the screen which includes the map in AE. Have not used SnagIt, from what I hear it has some features lacking on HyperSnap, my response to that is: I can't think of anything I want in the way of screen shots HyperSnap won't do.Haven't looked, but I'll bet both of them have limited time usage demos. Google it and see what happens.Bing

>maybe someone else got a better solution? Richard and Herb, quite a few of the routes now have yard views incorporated in them .. ADFRR & PRRR Hoodoo Pass are two I'm most familiar with. They have overhead yard views at almost every major siding. Not necessarily prototypical, but you can't get out and see what is actually where, so if fills the void. Also if you just need labels, etc., you might take a print screen of the part of the route in question in the Activity Editor. By enlarging it you can get a pic of one siding or much of a route, depending on what you need.

RE: Freight Yard Overhead View Printouts?

For all windows versions, including WinXP, hitting the print screen key copies the screen to a clipboard. Go to any paint program, edit, paste, and there's the image. That said, trainsim also has a screengrab of its own, scrgrb0.pcx, scrgrb1.pcx, etc., so you can get as many screenshots as you have disk space for. After closing trainsim, open an image editor that accepts .pcx files, and browse to the train simulator folder."quite a few of the routes now have yard views incorporated in them", I went ballistic on PO&N6, and then cut them all out for the "Lite" scenery files since yard regions also eat framerates. If you have a fast enough computer with a decent amount of RAM you can leave the heavy scenery files in, and there's a hacked camcfg.dat file included, just copy it to the \Global folder and you can fly around the route using the same keys as the route editor.

Thanks to all of you for the courteous help. No apparent giggles or forehead slaps. Can you tell I started computering on a Kaypro 4 with tiny green screen, 2 big floppy drives and the dreaded blinking DOS C: prompt? (...yes, and he has REALLY learned a lot since, hasn't he....)

Hee-hee, I also did the CLOAD with my TRS 80 and a mono cassete recorder back in the Dark Ages. Speaking of which, did you know MS DOS version 4.0 was released 15 years ago today?! Happy BugDay!
