Jun-02-01, 09:15 PM (EST) "ANOTHER MAJOR PROBLEM WITH TRAIN SIM!!!!!!!" HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP.I have a PC with the following spec's:CompaQ Presario 7000 US, powered by:AMD Athlon @ 1.2 GHz.
128 MB SynchDRAM memory.
Creative Sound Blaster Audio PCI.
3dfx VooDoo 4500, with drivers dated 11-9-00(The last set of certified, non-beta drivers recognized as official, before 3dfx folded into NVIDIA.)Direct X 8.0 installed, with no problems found in the diagnostics menus. Have Norton Utilities Package installed, but disabled when any graphics intensive programs are running. Here is my problem:Program would install fine. When I went to run it, I got the following error dialog, 3 times:"Create MPEG TASK_CMD NOT SUCCESSFUL". Then, you would get a white screen with black, diagonal lines running through it, with "Cannot Find vids: mp42 decompressor".
This happens when you would be see the familiar, or up-dated Bill Gates commercial/video, simular to what one would find in FS98 or 2000. As an avid user of that program, I would click the mouse, or hit ESC to skip this intro. This time, I would get an opening screen, then the PC would lock-up. Cycling the power button on the PC was the only way to facilitate re-boot. I uninstalled the game, then re-installed it, dis-abling(or hoping it was disabled) the anti-aliasing feature of the vid card, getting the same general results. My only guess is that the drivers of the vid card do not support games that require DIRECTX 8.0 to operate. Almost all of my software dated prior to 2001 work fine. So, it seems that the only solution would be to replace the card, or install the one that came with the PC, an NVIDIA WITH RE-CURRING driver support. But before I did that, I wanted to toss this out to see if there might be another fix, and perhaps TRAINSIM.com's administrators can forward this, and other bug reports to Microsoft so we can have a patch ASAP. Thanks,Kevin Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

opening video) to STARTUP.BAK. This will cause the non-
impressive video to not play and your problem may be solved.
