Well, here's the story. Yesterday I received my copy of Pro Train 3, which I installed to my dedicated German TS installation. There were no problems whatsoever at that point - yet. Anyway, having taken a look at some of the included rolling stock, I decided to copy the class 101 cab and sounds from the PT3 engines to the freeware 101s by Michael Barthels. This, too, worked without any problem, though I had to adapt the freeware 101s' ENG files to those of the PT3 101s, mainly as far as brake and control definitions were concerned. The next step I took was to alias the wagon sounds from PT3 to some of my freeware coaches and freight cars, as well as to edit some of my Pro Train 2 consists to use the InterCity driving trailer from PT3, which I felt has been done better than the one from PT2. For this, however, I created a clone of the PT3 driving trailer's ENG file and equipped it with twin pipe brakes to make it compatible with the freeware coaches I have installed. However, for some unknown reason I am now getting the "phone home" error whenever I try to run TS. I already converted my freeware freight cars back to the default generic sounds, but this seems not to have been the solution yet.Any clue what might be wrong here? Have you changed all of the name references in the PT3 clone to make it match the PT2 consist info. As well as renaming the actual file there are 5 engine and wagon lines within the file that must be changed. mervyn@madasafish.com
I think this illustrates the one thing at a time rule.If you can take out the altered files and consits to another directory, and put them back one at a time until you find the one causing the problem.I pressume you have checked the changes with Conbuilder?
Yes, I did - in fact, I was able to solve the problem a few minutes ago. Looks like I must have made an error in editing the Pro Train 2 consists from the PT2 driving trailer to the one from PT3. I now restored the consists in question, and things seem to be working again. I will, however, try swapping out the PT2 driving trailer again later. To be honest, I wasn't expecting any errors of that kind, since I've been manually editing consists before - read: using a Unicode-capable editor and replacing angine and car references by hand - , and never had any problems with that approach. I guess that's why I took several steps at a time. Dominik MannVisit www.tssf.de - www.bahn.de - http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/ - www.eisenbahnforum.de
