When I try to run MSTS in windowed mode it crashes. It also does this when I am at the home screen and I minimize the screen. But it wont do it if say my internet connection jumps offline. When the "do you wish to reconnect" screen pops up, the game minimizes with no problem at all. What can I do to fix it? I am running WinXP Pro.
What I was referring to is running the game in a explorer window. I used the ../../microsoft games/train simulator/train.exe in the adress bar to run MSTS in a separate window. Like to use it for a multi player session of sorts. But will this work?
Create a new shortcut to TS on the desktop and amend the target line in Properties so that the reads \train.exe" -vm:w This will start the sim in a proper window which can be minimised in the normal way. On my system, XPPro, once I have selected the route/activity to run the window expands almost to full screen but still leaves the taskbar visible.mervyn@madasafish.com
Once you have the shortcut on the desktop, right click on it and a menu selection type of window will pop up. At the bottom is Properties. Select and click on this and another window will open, this time showing the properties attached to the shortcut and the way in which the target file is opened. This window will have two or three tabs depending on your operating system. The one you need is usually opened and has several small boxes where info can be entered. You need the top one which is the shortcut route to the target and contains the path information plus any instructions. Mine reads ("D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\TrainSimulator\Train.exe" -vm:w) without the brackets. It is the last part behind the " which enables the sim to run in a window. To get this you just edit the wording in the box labelled Targetmervyn@madasafish.com
