I d/led the Schnabel car today and was wondering where they put these in a consist. Is it at the front or does it matter and can they even be in a mixed frieght? Do most RR's run them? I don't know much about these cars.
Anyone having the new ADFRR2, when time permits, I would like to see a couple screen shots. Please
Thanks in advance.

RE: Two Questions

Hi, Rich.
The few times I've seen Schnabel cars, the loaded cars usually move in a special consist, either as the only car in the train or with at most a flatcar added at each end as a spacer. Always moving pretty slowly, too. In the range of 15-20 mph (20-30 kph) and slow to a crawl when passing through bridges or other resrticted clearances. The cars are usually owned by the shipper, and can run on any carrying railroad. I have seen unloaded cars, with just the two end sections connected together, running in regular freight trains, but again usually at restricted speed of 30 mph or so.
