In recent weeks I noticed an odd problem on some pieces of rolling stock I have in my Trainset folder - or, more precisely, a problem which seems to occur only on certain combinations of engines and cars. For example, I took a 3rd-party activity for Pro Train 2 and modified it in such a way that I as the player would use a historic trainset composed of the DB class 118 electric from www.eurotrainsim.de (site might not be functional at this time, they've been having database problems) with nine semi-streamlined express coaches - also known as "Schürzenwagen" - from http://www.train-simulator.eu.tc/ . I then went driving, but when I had to slow down in anticipation of a lower speed limit, it felt as if I wasn't able to fully release the train brakes again afterwards. In fact, I couldn't keep the train moving even at full throttle.
I then made sure that all vehicles in my consist would have the same brake equipment type - namely "twin pipe" - , hoping that this would solve the problem. However, it didn't .As I said, I've been observing this behaviour on several combinations of vehicles in the past - the historic train headed by the 118 is just the most recent example. Is there anything else I might have to edit?

RE: Odd train brake problem

check to make sure engine brakes aren't on, and also check to make sure you don't have too many cars.

RE: Odd train brake problem

Greetings,
Make sure your trainline piping is compatible, example single pipe vs.
twin pipe. Your train brake might not be releasing. You will have to modify your .eng or wag. files to compliment each other. KRO52

RE: Odd train brake problem

That's precisely what I did. Here are the relevant lines from the 118's ENG file:
(from the first brake-related section at the beginning of the ENG file)BrakeEquipmentType( "Triple_valve, Auxilary_reservoir, Emergency_brake_reservoir" ) BrakeSystemType( "Air_twin_pipe" )
EmergencyBrakeResMaxPressure( 140 )
TripleValveRatio( 2.5 )
MaxReleaseRate( 2.27 )
MaxApplicationRate( 0.717 )
MaxAuxilaryChargingRate( 1.0 )
EmergencyResCapacity( 2.604 )
EmergencyResChargingRate( 1 )
BrakeCylinderPressureForMaxBrakeBrakeForce( 64 )(from the second brake-related section further down the file)BrakesEngineBrakeType( "Air_twin_pipe" )
BrakesTrainBrakeType( "Air_twin_pipe" )
BrakesEngineControllers( "Independent, Train" )...and here's the corresponding section from one of the coaches I was talking about:
BrakeEquipmentType( "Handbrake, Triple_valve, Auxilary_reservoir, Emergency_brake_reservoir" )
BrakeSystemType( "Air_twin_pipe" )
Could the problem perhaps be related to different release pressure values instead?
