LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-03 AT 03:20 AM (EDT)

Thanks to the assistance of Michael Thompson (creator of some great NSW-outline 3-D models) I have, at last, started to foliate the route with Grey Gum, Grey Box, Stringy-bark and River Gum. Some early screen-shots follow..............

Yes, it certainly looks more like Oz than the USA! However, Murphy's Law #326 ("When all is proceeding to plan, a spanner will fall into the works") came into effect this morning, as per this post.........http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/9302.htmlBruce.

Hi Bruce,Are those eucalypts available for download anywhere, I have virtually finished my Blue-Mountains Penrith-Lithgow route and would love some of those to finish it off with. I have made some of my own, but they are nowhere near as good as those.Mike

Mike, the one's that I am using WILL be made freely available to the public - they are being "tweaked" and will be published when all is okay.In the meantime, there is a set of Eucalypts - and a Golden Wattle - available at Yuri's site.Go here.......

RE: A Taste of NSW: Eucalyptus trees at last!

Hi Bruce,Thanks, I have downloaded the ones from Yuri's site and they will be fine for my requirements. There is also a clump of eucalypts on this site (I think they are by Dicky Tarkington) and I have used them extensively in forest regions.Mike

... and I've e-mailed them to Yuri so they should be at steam4me soon too.Eventually I hope to make them a hazard much like the default deer.I'd never done animals before and it was quite simple and fun - perhaps I'll build a couple of people now.

These things are in plague proportions in a lot of areas now and, particularly on roads, are a major hazard.Any chance of doing an Eastern Grey to compliment the Western Red?Regards,
Bruce.

RE: A Taste of NSW: Eucalyptus trees at last!

The Eastern greys do sometimes have a hint of Red - I thought I had made them fairly generic so they could work for both types.
The models are also only 1.4m or less so they should be about the right size for Eastern greys.A Taste of NSW: Eucalyptus trees at last! – image 6You're more than welcome to do a "repaint" - it's quite a simple texture file (side photo of a kangaroo)
