It's me again. I duplicated my trainset files to a folder on my desktop, and somehow, it left out from like the middle T's to the end of the alphabet, so MSTS loads part way and is then just endless error messages about missing database files. I got all angry again and tried to re-install the game. No dice. I uninstalled it, installed it, and those @$#%ing error messages were still @$#%ing there as if I had just wasted 20 minutes of my @$#%ing Spring Break. I don't know what to do! At least I had my Nintendo 64 to play when it was taking it's sweet time to install. I don't mean to sound hasty but I want to get back on the rails ASAP so again I'm accepting any help.thanks-Hovertrain

Okay, I think your problem is that it only copied about 3/4 of the trainset files? If that's true, then here's what I would say to do-If it copied all of your consists okay, then what you'll have to do is manually find all consists relating to the uncopied files, and manually delete all of those corresponding consists. If that's the case, try to delete all of them, and in the future, name all of your consists with the engine name in front, e.g., bnsfdash9100boxcars.con. That way, you'll know which consists go with which locos.Hope that helped!-Matt, future Cirque Du Soleil singer-Crime: It's my anti drug -Creating Pac-Man comics for the humorless people out there
I am pasting my (late) answer to your problem from the first thread. The problem is not with the trainset folder, it is with the consist folder. The consist folder tells MSTS what locos and cars to look for. Here it is. Kyle HMy suggestion to you would be to first move all of your files in your Consist directory to a temporary folder. Then try to run MSTS. If this succeeds, add back your consist by dates (groups). Then try it. I think you will find that you have existing "consists" that include a loco or car required for it that you no longer have (or never had). One of the most common errors in MSTS is that people don't like and/or delete a loco. Unfortunately, the consist are in another directory, and if you don't remove ALL consist that contain that car or loco, you have instant error messages. It is much easier to troubleshoot these types of issues if you address them when they initially happen. Also install things 1 at a time and make sure MSTS is happy before installing the next. (I'm speaking from lessons learned the hard way) Kyle H P.S. I use Conbuilder. Good Luck
>If it copied all of your consists okay, I did copy all the consists over to a seperate folder and I did get all of 'em. I was thinking of trying to find what it deleted and then look through my downloaded files.
DUPLICATING the TRAINSET folder won't help. Uninstall MSTS again so that all your left with are your additional files. Then MOVE (not duplicate) ALL REMAINING MSTS STUFF to another location and re-install MSTS where you had it before. Then you can work on how and what to add back in.Hope it helps,Koz-----------------------------------------FORMERLY 'THE KOZIOL' BEFORE THE STUPID DELETED ACCOUNTS DISASTERAL QAEDA IS SUSPECTED
Ah, shaddup. Just out of curiousity, have you tried Route Control Lite (the freeware version in the file library) yet? It has an excellent error checking feature which moves problem files to a backup folder so MSTS will launch without errors, then generates an HTM report that lists everything that's wrong. In order;Activities call for \consists\*.con filesConsist files call for \trainsets.So the trick to avoiding errors and crashes is to delete (or move to another folder) any activity (and the associated \Services\, \Paths\, and \Traffic\ files) within any route folder that wants custom consists. Then the custom .con files that want custom engines and cars. Last, the trainsets themselves, which don't want anything from anybody.Easiest way to sort it all out manually (in Windows Explorer) is to click on view, arrange icons, by date (or "modified", depending on your OS). All the default KUJU files will be 5/7/01 (or 7/5/01 if your computer is European date format), and you can select any that are later, cut, and paste into a backup folder. Then add them back in, trainsets first, consists second. It's been my experience that the custom activities aren't all that important, as long as I don't select an activity in the sim that needs custom consists that I don't have, everything is OK.Again tho, I'd try Route Control Lite first, easiest way to sort it all out.
