RE: MOW Train Set_need help please.

I get the same error. Apparently the cabeese is looking for a sound file that does not exist. I don't have it on my machine, anyway, and thought maybe something went wrong with my MSTS install. I have asked a couple of people to send me this file (along with refrige.wav, I think it is) that Conbuilder says I'm missing, but I have not heard anything back yet. Don't know what's causing the error, i.e. if it's an MSTS goof, or a me goof, or what. Don't have a solution, but at least we're not alone!

Hi Red,I just d'loaded the set a day or so ago and haven't experienced the problem. But I just did a search on my system for x_caboose.sms and found that it only resides in the Train Simulator\SOUND folder. My best guess is that somehow it got corrupted or deleted on your setup. A quick search will tell you if it is missing. Hope this helps.Bob K.

RE: MOW Train Set_need help please.

Mine is missing. I'd already searched for it several time using the "Search" feature of Windows. Not about to re-install MSTS for a lousy sound file, though, esp since I just re-installed it about a week ago to keep things running smoothly. I think it was Jim Ward/Sniper who used to (maybe still does) uninstall and then reinstall MSTS about 1x a week or so. I haven't gotten that crazy yet. . .

Clayton,HeHeHe !! I hear ya ! If it helps, the file modification date is 9/2/2002 and it appears to be from some add-on, rather than a default sound anyway. A re-install probably wouldn't help. I hope that someone recognizes the filename (x_caboose.sms) and can tell you where it comes from. Could it be from the MSTS update ??Again, hope this helps. Bob K.

"Could it be from the MSTS update ??"Hmm, ya know, I bet you just hit the bullseye! Been so busy with other MSTS stuff I haven't had a chance to re-install the new content. I'll go do that now and see what I get. Nice thinking! Edit: Nope, just ran the install for the content update and still didn't get the sound. Weird! I wonder what/where it's from? Edit 2: Actually, Conbuilder 1.6.2 says I'm missing three sound files:
x_caboose.sms, caboose.sms, and x_refrige.sms

Hey Guys !!More detective work !! All three sound files have the same date .. and share that date with the SD40 update. Methinks it is not a coincidence !! Bob K.

RE: MOW Train Set_need help please.

I have the updated files from 1.2 installed correctly and I still get the error message mentioned above. I will have to now correct the caboose sound file with one I know that works properly.

>Edit 2: Actually, Conbuilder 1.6.2 says I'm missing three
>sound files:
>x_caboose.sms, caboose.sms, and x_refrige.sms
...and all three of those files are downloaded in MSTS 1.2, specifically the SD40-2 package.
To all those who are saying they've downloaded 1.2 but still don't have the files, did you do a standard setup, or did you customize? That may have accidently cut them off. They are supposed to be located in the Train Simulator\SOUND file along with the rest of the rolling stock .sms files.
Since the total size of all three .sms files, and their associated .wav files are about 500kb UNcompressed, write me by private mail if you'd like me to send them over. I've already separated them out.

RE: MOW Train Set_need help please.

I figured as much, but still can't get the installer to install them. I have not done a custominzation of the install- -left everything default, but it doesn't install the sms files or the sounds at all. Fortunately someone has offered to send me the files. Unfortunately, this may mean I have a bigger problem lurking somewhere. . .

They can email me and I will send them. I did it for someone last night so I have them ready to go. You will just have to wait till this evening till I have a chance to send them out. From an email, that person is missing a couple of wavs, so I will include them also in a zip file.Kevin Arceneaux

C'est moi, Kev! Got the sms files OK, but not the wav files. I didn't mention you specifically in the post above b/c I didn't know if you wanted your offer public or not. At any rate, thanks for the offer.

RE: MOW Train Set_need help please.

I offered them also, but since I don't to make my email address public, and I'm sure most others don't either, I suggested that whoever wants the files, to send me your email address thru the "private mail" or "email" features of the forum.
