I thought I would post this information that was my reply to smp11512 post and JP24_Fan1 post inquiring about a Cab-forward. I figured everyone who haven't heard could use the good news.Take heart! GOOD NEWS!!!!! Ones-a-coming! When Mikkox droped off the face of the earth taking along with him a beauatiful almost completed AC-12 over a year a go, it left quite a void, a lot of questions, and a lot of inquires in the forums. There are a lot of us who would love to complete our SP steam rouster with a Cab-Forward. After all what is a SP route with a Cab-Forward?Well ones in the works. I know as I been helping to some extent to supply what little information and techanical data that I have. Erik of SacramentoLocomotiveWorks.com and of Yahoo! Groups SP_MSTS has picked up the tourch and is continuning the work. He is, amoung other projects, working on an SP AC-12 class Cab-Fordward. However he came across some new techniques that caused him to back track on the project so that the final project will be all that it can be and that it will be done right. The tender was almost finished or is finished to the best of my knowledge, and he had quite a bit of work completed on the engine at the time. This will cause a bit of a delay. But he feels this is necessary for a great loco done right. He also has future plans after the AC-12 for an early AC-3 Flat-Nose Cab-Fordward, and an AC-9 convential cab that SP acquired when it took over the El Paso & Southern. Southern Pacific had 12 of these AC-9 converted from coal to oil.Be paient as Erik has a lot of irons in the fire so to speak and a lot of other projects that he is commited to, thus, he is spred very thin. And all this in addition to a family and a real life job that brings the money in!Just give him time and it will bet done as Erik is commited to getting it done and getting it done right. Check SacramentoLocomotiveWorks.com for porgress reports!

Happy and Safe Railroading to ya.

RE: Southern Pacific AC-12 Cab-Forward

Have you given any real thought to solving the cab view problems with a cab forward. On all other steam locomotives, the cab view shows the backhead with all of the controls, and small (in some cases very small) windows looking forward. On a cab forward, it's just the opposite. The engineer large windows in front and the backhead (with all the minor controls) is behind him.
