Please Help Me!

Please help me! I loaded up train sim "explore route” this afternoon and none of the controls would work, whatever the locomotive, route, time or season! Eventually after much fighting, I can open the throttle but that is followed by one of two results. The train comes to a dead stop or goes into reverse and derails. Has anyone else experienced this "computer control" problem and if so what caused it and if you managed to solve it, how did you? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That gif is animated, not scrolling. It's only 45108 bytes in size! Anyway, I posted this topic for help, not to have people threaten me about my signature.

Hello!! You are in the right place to get help! You’ll need to reveal more about your particulars. The first question which occurs to me is: Has this application worked previously? And if so ... what have you done since it worked? Generally you should know this kind of situation does go on and is fixable ... so ... keep coming ... interact ... and you’ll be driving your train before you know it!Respectfullyjivajiva

I was driving along and the application was working perfectly. I derailed my train at the end of a siding and exited. I loaded up explore route again and it started not working. I didn't do anything between exiting the first explore route and loading the second one, apart from changing my sound propities on my computer and sim because there was a buzzing sound in the background.It's a mystery.... Hello! Maybe the application only appeared to run perfectly ... that is ... suppose (and I don’t know much here so pardon my inept phraseology) suppose a scenery file is missing or corrupt and there was no problem until that particular file was called for.I’ll tell you what ... if it was me ... the first thing I would do (and this may be redundant because you have not said if you’ve tried this or not) the first thing I would do would be to try another route. Do you get the same problem with each route? In which route or routes do you experience this difficulty? With which engine and which rolling stock? Maybe this is a well known problem. Do you get error messages?One difficulty may be that you want to be specific but don’t know what to be specific about!! While you’re at it ... maybe you’d talk a little about which version of MSTS you are using ... upgraded or not. Which version of which route or routes you are experiencing the problem with. What is your operating system? I bet when the specifics are pushed ... someone will pipe right up and recognize the problem!!! And tell you how to address it!! Might even be ... ME? We like the mystery ... because it (mystery) seems to always be with us!!Respectfullyjivajiva

It happens with every route, with any peice of rolling stock. No error message, just that the computer seems to get a midn of it's own! I'm operating on Windows XPThe version I'm using is version 1.0. I had to reinstall train sim recently and haven't got round to updating the version yet.Matt13 year old Steam Loco driver.

Now I’ll assume that every other application ... your word processor, your ... maybe Need For Speed and or whatever ... these are all fine. I’ll assume that your problem ... the apparent lack of appropriate response to your input ... is limited to MSTS. I’ve heard of a lack of response to keyboard input.... a known issue ... ‘seen it here somewhere. I’ve not heard HERE on this forum of one where your train goes backwards and derails. BUT when I first got MSTS I used to experience that kind of problem for sure ... and it was my fault I think ... had to do with passenger trains at the start of an activity. I was doing something silly and wrong ...
... You say this happens with all your stock ... you do mean freight and passenger right?This is a very interesting situation!! I hope my interacting is not preventing another more knowledgeable person from participating here.At this point I do ask (perhaps redundantly but never the less respectfully!!)
Are other apps working fine?
Are we truly talking about ALL your stock ... that is ... passenger and freight?
Have you run trains on MSTS for a while with success?If you answer, “Yes, yes, and yes,” then someone more experienced will help you soon!As everjivajiva

I’d recommend to others ... (too drastic ... make things worse etc.)Respectfully
