Activity Editor is no longer displaying the loose consists I have been placing as "scenery" in an activity I'm developing. When I use "Tools | Verify starting state", I get two pop-up messages giving me the uid's of two loose consists that I apparently placed in collision. I assume that is the reason AE is no longer displaying the consists, but I cannot fix the problem, because I cannot see the consists. Has this ever happened to anyone else? How do I fix it? Charlie
Charlie, I hesitate telling anyone this since it can completely trash your system (not just trainsim) if you make a mistake, but depending on what system you're using .. Win98, you can go to the start menu, run and type in regedit, the Control+F for find, type in hwrenderer and when it comes up (may take awhile), there are a bunch of entries on the right side of the screen. By deleting any that begin with AE_ of which there are about 15-20, (See pic below) then close regedit and it's done. You will have to reset all your options, but everything should be back to normal. One word of wisdom .. if you make a mistake, DON'T close regedit since it automatically saves when exited .. the only safe way to get out of it in the event of a mistake is to 'pull the power plug'. I can't emphasize enough that you are playing with fire .. don't get burnt
Thanks...I was afraid of that. Maybe I'll just back up everything important, blow away the core and re-install. Who knows what else may have gotten corrupted. Time to call in the "help desk" (read: my son with the BS in Computer Science). Charlie
Charlie, the only problem with 're-installing' is a couple of times, the un-install has not removed the registry entries which is what is causing the problem in the first place. I have had this happen personally. If it were me I would give the information to your 'help desk' and see what he can do. It is really a simple fix that only takes about 3 minutes, but as has been said .. if not done correctly can really mess things up. I'm not sure what causes this, but I've had it happen quite a few times with no apparent pattern. Just my $.02 worth
