We decided to start a new thread to accept contest entries. This is not a new contest, but an addendum to the previous thread. We’ve revised the rules a bit to make it easier to submit an entry in the Sea View doodlebug re-paint contest. We will accept the initials SV or SVR, with or without the road name Sea View Railway, to bring it more in line with modern railroad practice. We have also uploaded blank (no color) sides and ends .ace files (file name svr58ace.zip) to the Train-sim.com Library, to help those who may be re-painting for the first time. This zip file is NOT a complete doodlebug, but rather a set of replacement files to use on the doodlebug that is already in the Library (file name sv3dbfix.zip).A note to the two people (TrirailF40PHL and Velvetsky) that have already submitted entries: We will bring your previous entries forward to this thread, if you wish. But we will give you the opportunity to re-submit your entries yourselves. You may have revised the entries since your first post.***********************The management of Sea View Railway (aka: Bill Burnett and friends) has decided that the Sea View Railway (SVR) doodlebug is in need of a new look. So SVR is opening this up to a texturing contest, and is seeking a “tropical” theme. You must use the existing model of the SVR doodlebug #57 which is available in the Routes section of the Train-sim.com Library under the file name sv3dbfix.zip (the doodlebug included with the route download is the version before the fix). We have also provided two .ace files that have had the color removed from the sides and ends, file name svr58ace.zip, and it's located in the Railcars section of the Library.
The rules are:
1. The re-paint will be numbered #58, and the road name SEA VIEW RAILWAY, and/or the initials SVR or SV, must appear somewhere on the sides.
2. No offensive language/symbols/numbers allowed, please.
3. The winner’s entry will be used in a re-issue of the doodlebug, which will be used in an improved Introductory Train Ride for SV3.
4. The winning texture becomes the property of SVR, with winner’s name used in the readme as contributor.
5. Although you may change the physics of the doodlebug, those changes will NOT be used in the distributed copy. Only the .ace files will be used by SVR. However, proven improved physics and/or sound will be considered for an upgrade/patch.Contest ends April 15, 2003; the decision of Bill Burnett, Chuck Zeiler, and Jeff Bush is final.Post you submissions here. Comments and questions will be addressed by one of the judges, as time permits. The winner will submit his/her db_car1.ace and db/car2.ace files by e-mail to Bill Burnett. These files will be tested and then included in the version uploaded to the Train-sim.com Library. Enter as often as you wish.

Here's my entry, again. The correct #58 number has been placed on it.Take care!Kurt

Congratulations. The judges took a couple of extra days pondering the various Doodlebugs, because we found aspects of each of the submissions to be really attractive. In the end we decided that the golden doodlebug, with its cool blue interior, portrayed best the elements that make up the Sea View Railway. We'll be using this Doodlebug for the forthcoming Sea View Update, which will include a new and improved Introductory Train Ride. Look for this Update in the next week or so.Also, we would like to suggest that the other entries be uploaded by their authors for others to enjoy. To prevent confusion, we've taken the liberty of re-numbering them, as illustrated below. We'd like to urge the respective authors to re-number their Doodlebugs accordingly, and to zip them into corresponding upload files, namely SVR59.zip, SVR60.zip, and SVR61.zip. All of us feel strongly that each of the Doodlebugs would be a real addition to the Sea View experience.
Take part in a multiplayer run on sea view.
