Could it be! – image 1

I copied the following right off of the Train Simulator Insider page: http://microsoftgamesinsider.com/TrainSimulator/default.htm * You Can Be a Playtester!
Be one of the first people to play future Microsoft games by participating in our Microsoft Games Playtest program. All participants will be offered a great gift as our way of saying "Thanks"! You must be 16 years or older and live in the Seattle area. Check out the Microsoft Playtest site to find out more. Maybe this is a sign that MSTS 2 is coming, and is currently in the BETA testing stages! BTW what does BETA mean anyway? This is kwk100 and I'm 10-10 on the side.KWK100's GE Locomotive RebuildingUpdates (Jan 9 2003)GE 44 Tonner V2.00 and the 5 Ton Brownhoist nearing completion. Texture fixing in the works.
GE logo and name property of General Electric, I have no relation to GE.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-20-03 AT 03:34 AM (EDT)

I dunno.. for Microsoft it probably just means "unofficial" and "we haven't quite figured out how we're going to gouge you on this one."But for most other software developers, it means it's a testing version of the software, and there's still a lot of bugs and incomplete parts to it that can only be fixed once they get feedback from people using it.Beta, being the second letter in the great greek alphabet. You could consider (almost) the official released version the "Alpha" version, I suppose. - dispatcher618(... I'm glad Microsoft doesn't run railroads for real...)

Alpha versions come before beta -- they are development versions of a software typically with a few testers finding problems, areas that don't work, things it should have, etc. When it is hopefully almost ready for release, it goes into beta testing with a much larger group of test-users - mainly to find and fix bugs, not change features.

>in the BETA testing stages! BTW what does BETA mean anyway? Nah, this is just testing for M$ in general. You can find such a blurb on almost every M$ game site.Whenever they need testers, they draw from the pool of people that have put their names on the list. I've participated in several M$ betas for this reason.Sure, you just might be picked to beta MSTS, but the chances are slim. There are just too many other things they're working on.
