The front coupler works like it should, but is a bit picky about how it does it. Jim Ward aka Sniper worked out that if you are running diesels, before uncoupling make sure the engine brake is on. put it into reverse with a little bit of throttle, and very slowly release the brake until the engine just starts to move. When you are well clear of the other unit release the brake fully.I dont do that, I just uncouple and very quickly blip the throttle so the engine is just moving. when clear, again just open the throttle as normal. I suspect that electrics are similar.Steam engines dont have the same problem because the reaction time to the throttle is quite slow anyway.mervyn@madasafish.com
>The front coupler works like it should, but is a bit picky >about how it does it. It's supposed to crash MSTS sometimes when you use it? I make it a point to save before I ever try a couple on the front.-Jeff
It would be intresting to count the number of threads pertaining to the complete failure, and disregard of a working fix for the use of the front coupler. Its true, save any long running operation, and get ready to have the whole sim crash, if you can't uncouple a string of 10-15 freight cars, being pushed into an industrial siding. Yes, there are ways to uncouple and move on with the next task, but you should'nt have to keep your fingers crossed, and pray that you can continue with the next movement. I know many users of this sim, who never even get close to using the front couplers, for fear of total crash-out to desk top, or the famous send-don't send messageIs this the way to operate a realistic train sim? I think not.Dejoh
Since I have installed patch 1.1 I have had no problems with front couplers. Which means patch 1.1 doesn't sort everyones problems out, but it did with mine.David
