RE: Cajon Pass

There are groups out there, but with a URL too long and complicated to remember off the top of my head. Do a search on the web for Cajon Pass, and you'll find several sites that might interest you.The other thing you can do is to start your own site, like i did with Tehachapi. It's a lot of work, but at the same time it is really fun and I enjoy sharing my site with others.

RE: Cajon Pass

Today (Sunday) was hot on Cajon Pass. The downbound trains were stacking up at Summit. Once the tail end crossed the road, the headlights of the next train were coming around the corner. Start that site, we cannot have too many. The only pool locomotive today was a NS GE.

A bit off the topic, but...

LAST EDITED ON Feb-17-03 AT 10:55 AM (EDT)

I just got Cajon Pass last week and absolutly love it....EXCEPT.I am having a problem with getting any road/hiway traffic. I wrote to the customer service and they tell me to move my options up as a fix. Hey, I already have the options all the way up and have been getting road traffic on all my other routes since I first got MSTS!Anyone know a fix for the lack of road traffic in Cajon Pass? California is just not real without traffic conjestion! Rich

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

Rich,I don't have very fast setup so I've mostly been playing in the yards (fewer cars = faster frame rate), but I have seen some traffic although not anything close to Southern California reality. The world object slider is the only slider I have cranked all the way up.To all,Thanks for the replies. The Cajon Pass Group link is great help. However I should have been more direct with my question. What I was looking for is a group of Simmers you might be concentrating on Cajon. As I read thru the various forums there's lots of activity for Marias Pass and the Northeast Corridor and other parts east. A search of this forum turns up very little about Cajon.I would eventually like to do some more activities for Cajon and was merely wondering if anyone else was doing anything.Tim

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

I'm a simmer who concentrates mainly on Cajon and Tehachapi. I'm a beginner activity inventor who has made two activities and modified many others. I'll be back from work/vacation on Wednesday 2/19.Steve

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

Tim,I've been working on activities for Cajon, too...the first is based on the many log trains being run this winter by the UP and BNSF across the pass, and should be posted in a day or two (by the weekend, at the latest). The first couple test runs have proven interesting...5700 trailing tons, no helpers...you'll be in notch 8 a good bit of the way up to Summit and you'd better be good at balancing the brakes for the downhill side.I'm taking a page from 3DTS and including some "paperwork" for the train (track bulletins, train order and profile etc.) and the last step is to add the Barstow Diesel Service document to put you in compliance with Rule 1(D) para 3.Kurt

Rich,I am 3DTS Customer Service, and I'm also the guy who built Cajon Pass. I can guarantee you that I put plenty of traffic on the route. In the attached pic of San Bernardino, all the blue\white lines are car-spawners, and there's quite a few of them. If your route installed without any errors, then there's something else wrong on your machine or with your train-sim installation. Are you getting any errors with any of the activities?I had to suggest your detail settings because I don't know whether or not you had them up or down; I lost my ability to read minds a couple of years ago. And I have not heard back from you, so how am I to know whether or not the problem was solved?John G

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

John, I did email you back to let you know I have had the detail setting way up and get road traffic on every MSTS route as well as some other freeware one's I have. I still get nothing in the way of road traffic and it gives a spooky effect not seeing any.I have tried a few of the activities in Cajon Pass and they all seem to work okay (but without road traffic). The initial installation went fine, never get any error messages while running in an activity or explore mode. The engines and rolling stock all run fine, the new cabs are great, by the way! No other complaints, a great product.Rich

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

I must admit I'm at a loss as to why the traffic isn't showing on your route. I sent you another e-mail, so when I see your computer specs I may be able to figure it out. It's quite puzzling. John G

RE: A bit off the topic, but...

Unless..... your Carspawn.dat file might be corrupted. That's the only thing I can think of. If you look at the properties for this file in the main Cajon folder, it should say it's filesize is about 3.65kb. If it says otherwise, it's probably corrupted.John G
