I would like to know whether there is a tutorial that I can download on how to use this program to put a consist together. Unless I am missing something, there seems to be no instructions for a first time user of this program. I have limited experience using the MSTS methods of putting a consist together and thought this one would be easier and operate the same way as MSTS. I downloaded the latest version of Conbuilder a couple of weeks ago. Thanks in advance.

RE: Conbuilder

It's pretty simple, just play around with it. Put the arrow on the icons and you'll get a function info box. Your main problem will be recognizing your rolling stock, since ConBuilder gives you a generic loco or car symbol instead of the color preview profile in the activity editor. But ConBuilder's logical layout, plus additional functions such as loco aliasing and sequential consist renumbering, more than make up for that.

RE: Conbuilder

Not sure I agree about this. The good thing is the naming of consists. The bad thing is not being able to see exactly what u are adding, and I have one or two wierd consists, that dont look right!David

David, add a name line to the wag's. It helps keep everything clear.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Conbuilder

If you have a jpg in the folder with the same name as the wag/eng file and you highlight the item in ConBuilder and then right click it, you will see the jpg. This isn't the same as seeing the consist in AE, but I find it works pretty well, which is more then I can say for the coned function of AE.

RE: Conbuilder

I almost always get an error ms when I try this with a car: Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument. Is there a fix?

RE: Conbuilder

Bud, I seem to remember that there was a fix. You might use the search and see if you can find it.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Conbuilder

I have this problem with about 6 of my pieces of rolling stock. I worote the author about it just before Christmas, got a nice reply that stated he would investigate, but have heard nothing since then. So far as I know there is not a fix and I have been unable to figure out the problem myself. I am unable to fix any of the failing items or to get any of the working items to error with that message.

RE: Conbuilder

I got a note from the author of ConBuilder today, including a "patched" version and an explination of the problem. I have not tested the new version yet, but the explination was such I'd bet a geedunk he has the problem nailed. I will post again after I've had a chance to install and test the new version. UPRAIL;
You need to go into the file library and download version 1.49. IT seems to be the only version with HELP in it and it contains instructions on how to use the program. After that you can update it with the latest version. Byron De Winton
