RE: Marias Pass

Hi,
I think what Derek is trying to say, is that each of us has individual taste as to what we like, and to try to judge something as best is skewed by that bias. For example, I would tend to run this route with older diesels, maybe a SD24 and two GP35s on reefers headed east bound, or four U30Cs on a grain train westbound, each running through freight, with some trains ahead running on yellows. Others may like to do lots of switching along the route with set outs and pickups. Some would want to put a pair of Dash 9s on an intermodal and keep it on schedule, others would want to try and make it across the pass with a heavy grain train and just enough TE to get over the top with just a little imaginary smoke from the traction motors. You can have fun just taking a pair of GP7s on a logging local from Kalispell to Whitefish, against some mainline traffic. All sorts of things are out there, and will be great if that is what you enjoy.
Bob
