If anyone has information on the operations on the LV and the rest of the tracks in the LV route, I would appriciate them emailing the info to me. I would like to do some activities for that route. I would esp like info on operations in the time frame before the formation of CR and the years of CR.I would also like to know who's tracks are modeled.ThanksKevin Arceneaux It is time for Amtrak to become a fallen flag!
Kevin, in your Lehigh folder you'll find a zip file named "about.zip" It contains a schematic map showing the different railroad companies and a short description about each of them, both in Word and TXT formats. I think this answer some of your questions, and i can send you some information about the operations in the next days, as soon as i find the time. I'm looking foreward to seeing some activities by you!Werner
While I'm not sure it has enough detail, John Armstrong did an article long ago on the Lehigh Valley operations in the Lehigh Gorge. The article became part of the book "Track Planning for Realistic Operation". I don't know if you have the book or are able to get a hold of it. I owned it one time, but gave it to a friend."Handsomest Trains In The World" may have some info in it, particularly about passenger operations."The Northeast Railroad Scene Vol. 1: The Lehigh Valley" Has pictures of much of the freight equipment in all divisions, including Delaware & Hudson pool power.Search the Web for the historical societies. Lehigh Valley, Lehigh and Susquehannah (the original competitor on the other bank of the Lehigh River (absorbed by the Jersey Central). Central Railroad of New Jersey, Lehigh & New England, and Lehigh & Hudson River...Don't forget the Erie. The LV had a strong relationship with them. Asa Packer rebuilt their wide gauge main so he could get running rights to Buffalo (before he extended his own road there). I recall reading how Erie's Triplexes were sometimes serviced at the LV's Sayre shops. There is also a group that puts out the Magazine Flags, Diamonds, and Statues that specializes in the railroads of that area. I cannot recall their name.Hope that's some help.
Actually it is, I still have John's book around here somewhere. A fellow memeber of the forum is also loaning me his book so I should have an idea of some things. Plus I still have to search my Train Mag database to see if they have any articles on it.Hopefully I should be done with the CR Indy activities in a week or so. By then I should have my reference material notes ready to go.Kevin Arceneaux It is time for Amtrak to become a fallen flag!
Let me add to the excellant replies: Robert F. Archer's "A History of the Lehigh Valley Railroad" and Greenberg and Fischer's "The Leigh Valley Railroad - East of Mauch Chunk". They're probably still in print, but if not, can be found (sooner or later) from one of the many booksearch sites on the web. There is also a book that covers the western (New York state)portion, but I don't have it.It's my hope that the author of this route will eventually extend it to Scranton west and at least to Easton, Pa on the east. This encompasses Allentown and Bethleham: lots of good steel, iron ore and coal payloads. It's my favoriate RR (plus D&LW).Mal

I have downloaded this Route and when I check it out with the editor it says I am missing all the consists. I have downloaded it twice and followed the instructions and it still comes this way. I would you been sussessful in uploading and playing the activity. Can you give me any suggestions on this? Motornec
No. I dl'ed the route but haven't installed it yet. I want to wait till I am done with Indy.Kevin Arceneaux It is time for Amtrak to become a fallen flag!
i could locate the problem with the missing consists: I had some test activities which i deleted before uploading the route because they all contain non-standard consists. What i forgot was to delete the services as well. So all you have to do is to open the folder "services" of the route and delete everything there with the exception of "dummy.srv" which is the service for the dummy actvity delivered with the route. After that everything should be ok.Sorry for any inconveniences, Werner
