The other night I was running Cajon and listening to Fostoria Live Streaming Audio for radio chatter (OK, I'm not a stickler for authenticity in the chatter .... I like the Fostoria stream because it has a lot of activity) when I heard an excited voice come on saying "Dispatch this is CSX 8472. We just blew our engine ... blew all the doors open on the engine cab and a big ball of flame went up! We think the fire's out but we're gonna have to stop."Wouldn't it be entertaining to have the occasional engine loss and dynamic brake loss in the sim to keep things interesting?krswen
Yeah! Though you should have a little button that could set that sort of thing off. If I'm plowing down a hill at 120mph, I'm not going to be too happy about my engine blowing up!

Personally, I think it'd be funny to run a train uphill only to have a wonderful animation of the doors on your second engine blowing off, scraps of metal flying out into the weeds, the glass cracking and this huge fireball flying through the air as your number two blows its engine with a spectacular explosion. In such an activity, then you'd be faced with two problems. One: There's an amtrak train following you, and if you start rolling back the chances of your stopping before it hits you are VERY SLIM. So you have to climb the hill now with only one engine. far less than you should have. Two: Your second engine is on fire and you need to get it to a track where the waiting firefighters will put it out. The problem is the cars coupled directly behind it are highly flammable, so you've got a short time to do this in. Take too long, and the cars detonate and you've got one heck of an accident on your hands.Technically, we could do this now. Without the animations.
I would like it, but I would like to be able to turn it off in the options. and maybe you would be able to adjust how often it blows up in the .eng file
