I thought it was confined to Marias Pass, but the problem must have moved down the Sweetgrass sub also. I was running the Intro activity, when at 24mph just outside Brady, a coupler broke. Anyone else run into this one yet?

RE: Sweetgrass sub intro activity

I have to disagree with you on that, as there's a number of routes, including mine (Mesaba Electric) where I've never experienced a coupler break at any speed.

Yes, but what are the coupler values for the rolling stock for that line?
Most rolling stock now has higher values than the default.Kevin Arceneaux

It's all default equipment, and as I mentioned earlier, I've never had an uncoupling on my own route with these units.

Derek,
This is something different, at least the westbound Valier branch is. Look at this screen, I thought the rest of the train was just headed into a field (see upper edge background, those cars are still rolling west), but I think now, the lead and about 4 cars suddenly jumped across onto the mainline, and that is the rest of the train still moving down the branch???? This is the wierdest I have seen yet, it just happens in a blink?? Couplers make no difference on this one.
Bob

Bob, that looks and sounds like an XTracks or Tsection.dat difference. I've had this happen a couple of times while testing for different combinations of the tsection.dat. Had an entire train go straight up in the air about 50 feet, still coupled, came down going the opposite direction without so much as an odd sound. I changed the tsection.dat back to the original and everything was fine.

RE: Sweetgrass sub intro activity

Hi all, just to report: Also had a (serious) coupler break on the Fort Benton sub when approaching Great Falls - as there had been no switch for some 15 miles, plus some speed changes from 25mph to 10mph and back, I expected problems when approaching the next switch: See respective threads on what causes the coupler breaks. But I never thought i'd be so extreme: going some 20mph (accelerating out of a 10mph zone) with 3 BN SD40 and some 35 mixed, already the coupler between the first and second engine snapped, with the remainder of the train literally flying all over the place.A pitty, for the portion of the route I've seen so far looked like a great improvement in terms of scenery since the earlier version... Hope the next version will include a few "ficticious" industries and sidings in the soon to be identified critical sections - could even be "dead" tracks, just a switch and a few yards of rusty track. So far for me the only save way to overcome the problem of too long stretches of track between nodes - see btw.Btw: The engines - where the break occured - already had modified damping values with N/m/s instead of N/m! I'm clueless!Lukas a.k.a Swissie
