Well, please allow me first to thank Michael Barthels for offering us this amazing locomotive . This is one of my biggest favourites, which is why I'm all the more glad that there is now a decent TS version of it.There is, however, an issue which I haven't been able to fix yet. After installing the IORE to my Trainset folder and copying over the cab and sounds from the PT2 class 101, I built a consist of the IORE double unit and fifty loaded UNO iron ore hoppers from the Litt. Dm3 package by Mats Strid and Mats Tinnerholm. I then took this consist on a test ride on the KMJ route, and, as expected, IORE had practically no problems in getting the train moving. However, when I noticed there was a yellow signal with 40 kph speed restriction ahead, I wanted to slow down and applied the brakes about 2.5 kilometres in front of the signal. But for some reason nothing happened - the train simply would not stop.I then exited the sim to check whether the brakes of IORE and the hoppers might have been incompatible, and indeed, IORE had a "single pipe" definition, whereas the hoppers (and indeed the Dm3 from Mats' package) had double pipes.
Consequently, I edited IORE's ENG files, but the brakes still remained ineffective.Anybody have an idea what else I might check?

RE: IORE brake question

I don't know if the route you are using has the train in motion when the simulation starts. I have found that if the train is in motion wheb the simulation opens that a brake application will do nothing. One has to release the brakes (yes I know they show released) but the simulation does not know this. after releasing the brakes you can then make a brake application. Found this on the original Marias pass.Nascarphan

RE: IORE brake question

No, my train is stationary at the beginning of the activity I built. The route I'm currently doing my trials on is the KMJ route from http://msts.e-buzz.net . Anyway, I did some more testing, and found out that the brakes *will* actually apply, but the brake force appears to be very weak, meaning that the train will require at least two kilometers to come to a halt.
While this would actually be pretty much realistic in my opinion, the brakes will, however, be unable to slow the train down while on a descending grade. In fact, I applied a full 100% of brakes, but the train would still accelerate down the slope. However, I'm no longer sure that it's the engine which is to blame - it *could* also be the cars, but at this point I simply do not have enough empirical data to be able to give a definite answer. In any case, I will do some more tweaking both to the engine and the cars, and report back if I should find out anything.
