I have tried to download this program from a number of sites and I keep getting a page not found popup. Is there any way to get this file at all as I really need this program
It is available for download here in the library. It's currently listed in the newest files section.Apparently the author had troubles with his website, so it is now available here.Best, Todd
Route-Riter Lite is also available. I think Route-Riter Lite is perhaps easier to use if you just want to check routes for missing consist, missing trains with missing consist and find out what is missing etc. Looks like to me that the newer Route-Riter is more for developers and those who want to compress files etc. There are a lot of warnings to read before using the new Route-Riter. Route Riter Lite is available in the Train-sim library in the utilities section.
Hi Darrel,There has never been a Route-Riter Lite version? Any older versions in the file library might well have bugs which have been fixed in later versions.I know the latest version has a lot of options in it, but most of them are of some use to some people, and yes, a program such as this can be dangerous to use by the inexperienced. If you really try, it can delete every file on your hard-drive.However I feel the help files are pretty comprehensive, and if you read them first, most people should have no problem using the basic options such as checking routes, compacting downloaded routes, and checking activities and rolling stock.
I can't find the message where you announced that the website was getting pulled out from under you. Perhaps in the server hiccup it was lost? At any rate, after downloading .27 from train-sim.com just today, I would say the one thing I will miss most is the change list towards the end of the Route Riter home page. Being able to see at a glance what to expect in recent history is something I'm very used to in the world of Linux software. Perhaps you could append it to the readme.txt for easy perusal before setup and installation? Thanks!
Thanks a bundle!Even after installing there's no changelog installed in the program directory. Perhaps could start distributing it with the package somehow? Thanks for any consideration. Thanks for all the detail work on pulling together such a tool!
Hi MikeRoute-Riter looks like a great program!! The "other" program I was referring to is called Route Control 'Lite'. It doesnt do nearly what your program does. Sorry for my error. Darrel
