I went to Maple Leaf Tracks website and it says that Sandpatch can now be bought in retail stores as soon as I saw I was on my way out the door to buy it.

RE: Sandpatch now Avalible in Stores

Don't be in too big of a rush...Sandpatch probally won't make it onto the shelves for a few more weeks. It is not a sought after release like MSTS or SimCity. Typically the add-ons find there way onto the shelves at a leasurely pace.

RE: Sandpatch now Avalible in Stores

A quick check on gamestop.com shows it available in three Gamestop/Babbages stores in my area as of today, January 27. I checked last week and it wasn't available in any of their local stores, so it must be hitting the shelves as we speak.Question: Assuming that I'm going to pay $20 US for Sandpatch regardless of whether I buy it from a store, via download from Maple Leaf Tracks, or via mail from Maple Leaf on CD, which purchase method do you suppose MLT would find most beneficial to their business? They'd probably get more profit from a direct sale, presumably via download to minimize their costs, but perhaps they'd prefer a retail purchase to boost their retail distribution for future releases. Any thoughts?

RE: Sandpatch now Avalible in Stores

Having been there, I suppose buying direct gives Jason the biggest boost. From what I've gathered, Babbages/Software Etc. et al demand as much as 50% discount from the wholesaler - Assuming Jason went through a 3rd party, that 3rd party would also demand a cut. If he didn't go through a 3rd party, then great - except he still gets nailed from the Babbages steam roller. Benefits to being in the store:You're presented to a wider audience more apt to make an impulse buying decision. Most who buy direct from MLT are those that know of Jason's (and cohorts) work and use this and other forums to view screens and ask questions before laying out their cash. Store folk can only judge the product by its pictures on the box.In short, buy it from Jason and allow him to put the extra money back into MLT. Cheers!

RE: Sandpatch now Avalible in Stores

I *swear* I saw it today at Electronics Boutique when I was down picking up another copy of MSTS at $20 (another good deal; that and PT1/PT2 for $10 and GameStop)

Got mine at the EB store Woodbine Centre. Apparently, they are only stocking one per store, so move fast, unless you are prepared to wait.

I doubt it'll be sold out here in Hamilton, I haven't met one other railfan in this whole city yet, let alone anyone who uses MSTS.*~þHÃt*Rat~**~classic american playa~*

RE: Sandpatch now Avalible in Stores

Thats how it is down here, I usually go to Software Etc. and grab up one. No one in the Little Rock area usually uses MSTS so that puts me in luck, but its a hour drive from my house though. Hopefully, it will be there.

Guess I'd better move. I bought both MSTS and TSM used at my local EB, so I'd better get of my arse and go, cause there's someone who will beat me!
