Some new track textures I've been playing with. Just looking for some opinions. Please excuse the default equipment. I have been testing these textures on the Crawford route (very nice ... thanks John!) and am just using the default activities for now.The rails, ties and ballast are textured using high-res digital photographs I took along the CN mainline in Southern Ontario. The winter textures simulate a light snow covering, but I am considering an alternate heavy snowfall version.LaterRay

RE: Track Textures ... Can I get your opinions please .

Not overly keen on the summer as to my eye it looks artificial but think the winter texture with a light dusting of snow on the ballast looks really good.Bill

RE: Track Textures ... Can I get your opinions please .

OK Excellent looking texture....
However I have two small suggestions...
One, put a polished surface on the top of the rail... Look at 3D rail for what I mean. It is not natural for the rail to be rusty/discolored all over... Unless it is an unused siding or branch.. There should be a polished path down the top of the rail where the wheels make contact...
Two, on the edges trying and soften the transition to your texture (acleantrak2 ???) a skosh.. It shouldn't be such a hard, regular transition to the base terrain... I think some one else on here has done that with alpha channels so you might want to look for that and incorporate the technique into your package.....Chuck Schneider

Thanks for the critique, Chuck. I'll see what I can do with the railhead (right now it's just Kuju's) and also about the terrain blending. I hadn't further edited the alpha channel yet. I simply imported Kuju's as a guideline to start from and now I'll try to improve it.Thanks again.Ray

Ray,another message bringing your Tracks to the Front Page, torturing us because we can't have them yet, reminds me to suggest to you and all other MSTS developers:Wait for the release of the next MSTS from KUJU before wasting your time and talents SHORT TERM ?O t t oP.S.: have a look at the LGV-MED and "Shiny" tracks, re. shiny Railheads mentioned in one message.
