After arriving at Okoba it is necessary to negotiate a switchback in order to proceed to Yatake. Finally, after several trial & error attempts, I discovered that if I stopped between the red light in the siding & the switch, I could then reverse & proceed on up the mountain to Yatake. (If I stopped far enough back so that I was stopped by the red light after I reversed, it remained red without ever changing to green, & if I then tried proceeding through the red light after stopping, the activity ended saying I'd ignored the red light.)
My problem is this: there is a similar switchback situation upon arriving at Masaki, but if I try the same strategy of stopping between the red light in the siding & the switch so as not to be stopped by the red light, then when I reverse to navigate the switchback the switch does not switch for me nor am I able to manually throw it. The train just proceeds back the way it came.
If I go back far enough on the siding so that the red light stops me on my return as I attempt to reach the switchback, the red light never changes so that I can proceed & again the activity ends if I go on through the red light after stopping saying I ignored the red light.
How has anyone else managed to get by/through the Masaki switchback? Has anyone else had similar difficulty? Is this just a bug?
Thanks for any input.

RE: Isaburo tourist activity on Hisatsu route

Basically for both the switchbacks, try to get as near to the buffers as possible. That way both the lights and the switches will change.David

Greetings David,I did just as you said & successfully completed the entire run. It made my day as I've tried this particular run at least half a dozen times. Thank you so much.Jane

RE: Isaburo tourist activity on Hisatsu route

LOL! No problem. I had the same many moons ago, and spent hours on it! In the end I found the solution here, as many others have done.
As long as people pass their knowledge on, everything will be sorted, eventually!I know a lot about activity quirks, because I play activities a lot, but I am lost with other stuff (like route editor LOL!). I am just playing around with activity editor at the moment, and having a great time! Managed 3 fatal collisions today already!David

RE: Isaburo tourist activity on Hisatsu route

By "get as near to the buffers as possible", David means get way down the track, going well past the switch and signal, near the end of the curve before the barrier. When you set all your controls to back up, then and only then will the switch and the signal change automatically so you can navigate the switchback. I had trouble with this today even after reading his answer, so I'm posting the clarification for others searching the archives.

RE: Isaburo tourist activity on Hisatsu route

Nope. Just go back as far as u can. If u play it a few times, you can figure where it will work. I was giving a foolproof way of doing it. It can be done with less backing up, but after that, it is up to the player to work out.David

RE: Isaburo tourist activity on Hisatsu route

This subject came up quite a while ago. Here's another workaround for the not-so-faint-of-heart using the Activity Editor.Open up the activity in the Activity Editor (JAPAN2\ACTIVITIES\isaburo.act).Over on the right side, press the "Edit" button under "Player Service." A new dialog called "Servce Editor" pops up.Press the "Edit" button under "Path" on this dialog. Another new dialog called "Path Editor" pops up.Click on the map.Navigate to Okoba (or Masaki) using the arrow keys. Use Ctrl-arrow to zoom into the areas with the switchbacks. You'll notice that the path is highlighted in green. The reverse point in each switchback has a little curled arrow on it. When you move the cursor close to it, a little circle appears. Now just drag the end point to a new location closer to the turnout.Click the "Leave Path Editor" button and save everything.Or just drive up near the buffers like everyone else said!
