Everytime I try to change engines or cars in the activity editor the thing won't let me after I tell it to okay the changes. it's irritating to have the same locomotive appear. Do I really need to re-install the train sim because that's a last resort, but i am thinking aobut it as the days go by

There are some routes, especially those that come off a CD, that flag their files as "read only" when they are installed. You have to hunt the files down in Explorer, and change their properties to get rid of the "read only" flag.
