Which is best for MSTS? I plan on getting a new graphics card tomorrow and was wondering do I really need to get the GF4 Ti 4600, or will the GF4 Ti 4400 work just as good as the GF4 Ti 4600, I guess I am trying to say is is the GeForce 4 Ti 4400 better than the GeForce 3 Ti 500, and is it more better in graphics and shapeness than the GF3 Ti 500?Current Specs.:Compaq Presario 5852 Model 550 Mhz Pentium 3 384 SDRAM Memory GeForce 3 Ti 500 Windows 98 Second Edition

with a 550mzh chip you are not going to much change with a hi end card like a TI4600 . it would be best to upgrade the MoBO if possable or replace the whole comp. with something over at least 1g mzh. to get any noticable improvements with a hi end graphics card.. There are some benchmarks comparing the two cards, and a GF3 Ti200, here: http://www.reviewmakers.com/showdoc.php?review=44&pg=6These show a good performance improvement moving from GF3 to GF4, especially at higher screen resolutions. Those results were obtained, however, with a 1.33Ghz Athlon. You might well find that the bottleneck in your system is the 550MHz Pentium 3, not the video card. The AGP on that system is probably also limited to 2X... that's all that was out there at the time.Is there any way you could borrow a GeForce4 card from a buddy and try it out before you spent the money? With only a 550MHz CPU, there's a reasonable chance you will see little or no improvement in MSTS frame rates.
What about the graphics, do they look sharper, more real than the GF3 Ti 500?, I dont know any body with a GF4 card so I wouldint be able to borrow one.

do they look sharper, more real than the GF3 Ti 500?That is possible. You could probably turn on anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering on the GeForce 4 and get frame rates comparable to a GeForce3 with those things turned off.
