On a new activity I've just set up I have a computer goods train that reverses into a siding while my player train is waiting on the main line and the goods train goes out of site behind a building. As soon as it gets to the end of the path and vanishes I have started the same consist with the last 6 wagons missing and the goods train then comes out into sight looking as though it has uncoupled the last 6 coaches. For the experts this may not be very clever but to starters like me it may give someone a new idea!
That's actually not a bad idea, you could really put that to good use on some of the more cluttered routes. N&JC is one that comes to mind, you could have a switcher with a few cars disappear behind some buildings, and since you can't uncouple or delay an AI train, have the same locomotive come back out of the siding a few minutes later. Good idea!Jeff Leslie
It looks pretty slick in action, too. I believe the Longhairedwizard used that trick in one of his activities for the Full Bucket Line. You can set-up reverse points for AI trains the same way you for player trains. And the same restrictions/limitations apply.Henry
That IS a neat idea! I'm just getting started in building activities myself, and I'd like to give this a try. How did you get the AI train to reverse into the siding?MC
I had the computer train draw out of one track in a siding onto the opposite mainline just as the player train arrived in the station. The computer train then having drawn clear of the siding reversed into a different siding and out of sight behind a building. The cameras can be used to watch the movements from the static player train. A new path then brings the engine back into view as if it has uncoupled the wagons. Hope this answers your question.
Did you use a reverse point, like on the player path? I can't remember the screens that come up when putting in the AI path, and I'm wondering if it doesn't use reverse points just like the player path.Another question...your first AI train backed in, and (pretended to) dropped off some cars. The second AI train came back out, minus the cars. Can you put a static consist in there with the cars you "dropped off"? I suppose you could, as long as they didn't interfere with the AI train as it backed in.Thanks for some great ideas,MC
