Doubleslip problem – image 2

LAST EDITED ON Dec-22-02 AT 03:30 PM (EST)

Why they are not working properly? I have only manual switches but they don't work in the game. Is this once again a problem in the track database. BTW that switch is placed in August 2002... Here's a shot from the new activities in the NJC 1.4. This short hill eats all the power from the GP9, because there's not much flat track to get speed. I also started Penn Central activity but it is flawed by that doubleslip (in Greenville yard). The new update is delayed because I will try to change some signals to new places where they shouldn't disturb switching.

RE: Doubleslip problem

in general, I have found that slip switches don't work well in any case. Trailing point switches can also be a problem in a yard. Unfortunately, there's no real good solution for this. Sorry I can't help.

RE: Doubleslip problem

Teemu, this problem also exists in EXPLORE Route in some locations where Switches are affected by Signalling. Such as one set of switches after having crossed the bridge past Bayonne.I just killed the Signals close to them in the RE and no more problems.I am in Salt Lake City with my Son and family for Christmas and can't do much about anything MSTS until after my return.Make a note of the Co-ordinates of that Double-Switch and post it here. I shall investigate it after my return home 2nd of Jan.03

RE: Doubleslip problem

I'm having this problem with a double slip near Siding 3 in the Harrison Reach Industry Park. It's stymied an activity I had nearly completed, any help would be appreciated! I can control them in the AE but can only seem to manually throw it from certain directions. Thanks,Steve Davis

RE: Doubleslip problem

Steve, could you drive a Loco to that specific location and take a note of the Co-ordinates with the "Compass" 0 (Zero) key and post them here.I'll try to find out what the problem could be. Probably affected by Signals ?

RE: Doubleslip problem

Steve, the Co-ordinates in that AE Screenshot are not accurate enough as they refer to where the Mouse Pointer was at that time. The appropriate Co-ordinates are: -74.00462 / 40.87539 and here's the baby:Doubleslip problem – image 7The "Animation" test reveals that all blades are moving freely.Have you by any chance declared a "Player's Path" through that Double Slip ? If so then I think that this could be the cause of your problem.Enocell's and Sniper's Routes are FREESTYLE, using MANUAL Switches / Points only. The trick is to set a Player's Path "End Point" not far from the "Starting Point", allowing enough track to accomodate a long Consist. Doing this the entire Activity then becomes FREESTYLE, EXPLORE Route fashion, drive where you want, all Switches / Points working with the exception of a few restricted by Signals, pick up and drop off where you want.Seeing that you all here are N.&.J.C. fans, you might like this. The End-of-Line Loops are my creation. Trouble with doing that is that you can't "Update" without wiping out all the hard work ! But then I would not want to anyway. I like it as it is now ! RE: Doubleslip problem

Yes, my activity is freestyle, all switches are to be operated manually by the player. You can get there because there are no intervening signals and all switches are manual, but you can only throw the switch certain ways. For example you can't proceed "straight" from where you took the picture, into the branch that leads to the refinery etc. Thanks for your help in looking at this!--Steve

RE: Doubleslip problem

What I've heard from the other user reporting the same problem, is that these work in "Explore Route" and not in an activity. I'm not sure, I'll try in Explore. Meantime, here's what happens to me.1) Switch set to go straight
Doubleslip problem – image 132) But I'm going to the right...Doubleslip problem – image 14
