RE: Ohio Rail

Hi Rich,I just started getting involved with this forum when all the brew-ha-ha started and you left.Just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you how talented and generous I think you are in creating and sharing Ohio Rail. There are a few of you in this community who are definitely what I'd consider the leaders and are a cut above your average genius (you, Jim Ward, Marc Nelson, just to name a few). It is people like you who have added so much to this hobby and made it as enjoyable and as fun as it is. And, by saying this, I certainly don't want to detract from all the other artists out there who have created their own masterpieces and so generously shared them with us klutzes.I wish you a very Merry Christmas, Rich, and a Happy and prosperous New Year.Thank you again for Ohio Rail.Larry Steiner

Merry Christmas RichThanks for your Activity Guide, and for the most amazing route I have seen so far. The degree of realism of Ohio Rail is just, well amazing. I wondered if anyone would ever put this much work and time into a route. And you and your friends have without a doubt done it. I can really get lost running this route. And by that I mean it feels so real. Thanks Rich and helpers.Phil Senteraka

RE: Ohio Rail

I echo the sentiments of Messrs Steiner and Senter."Ohio Rail" - and the various ancillaries created for it - has given me more enjoyment whilst sitting at a computer than I have ever experienced before.I thank you for this wonderful package and extend to you the compliments of the season.

More than toothpaste? Shucks, it's better'n sliced bread, with jam. Have a safe and healthy holiday, one and all (Yea! You to, Rich )!
HawkEdit 1: Hey Rich, got a new section of that bridge coming your way. This section will be an overpass for a road underneath (got the idea from Pete). Same as the "Mid" section, but cut away for the road. Hope to have it ready tomorrow, as well as, hopefully, the final version of all three sections. Then I'll start on the height matter. Probably just 75 and 100 foot, for now. It's the "Orange Blossom Special" bringing my baby home.

RE: Ohio Rail

Hi RichOther than Ohio Rail being a veritable masterpiece overall except for a couple of minor glitches that would in real life cause a train to derail I have a question. Why in the world did you insert the river route to use with the barges only to have it go so far and run out of track? Here I was happily cruising down the river looking at the spectaculor scenery on my way to where I don't know only to have my barges and tug sink. Yep thats right, one minute they are there and the next they are in the briny deep. Seriously though wouldn't it be nice to extend the track to another dock or some sort of landing as opposed to having it just sink out in the middle of nowhere. Unless of course I am missing something, but I don't see how. You can turn the screen to where you can see underwater and the track just ends. Just an observation and the fact I spent 25 years + as an aircraft inspector I have a tendency to pick apart most everything. I watch movies with the express purpose of finding the mistakes so I guess Train Sim is no different. Thanks again for an outstanding route and happy holidays to you and yours also to the others that look at this post.Ken B.

Well... actually...http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=368&forum=DCForumID50We're beta-ing it now. I'd like to get it uploaded in the next couple of days for Christmas. There's a patch for the route you will need that will also be made available at the same time this new package is. It won't affect pre-existing activities. And thank you all very much for the very nice things you said. But whatever happened to ole Sniper? Ain't seen a post from him in awhile.Rich Garber

RE: Ohio Rail

Hi Rich,I downloaded the Ohio Rail 10 today and I have to say it's a great route. I like how you put it together nicely and just click on setup and it's done. I should have download it sooner but, I figure what the heck. Will be looking forward to additional activities and patches. I haven't had any problems except I downloaded too many stuff and not reading all the materials requiring additional cars and locos for activities. All my problems is fixed for now. Thanks for the great route. Ken

RE: Ohio Rail

They're done. We're just beta testing them working out any kinks. They should be available before Christmas for sure. What ya need to know though...Is there's two things to download. First is the Build 10 Patch 1. Simple install, the install does everything. It won't harm existing activities either. Then you install the activity pack which requires a few things....1) Ohio Rail (the route) <--- obivously
2) Ohio Rail Build 10 patch <---- the thing I was just going on about
3) WV&O Rollingstock package <----- Duh
4) OR&W Rollingstock package <----- Yep
5) OR&W Activity Pack (activities 1-15) <----- Go figure, what for?Chances are you have all but #2 installed so the installation should be a breeze for ya. And the WV&O activity pack uses the same installation method as the rest of them. Included with the activity pack is a colorful but printable manual. You'll see that in the Ohio Rail Start Menu. Between the activities which I estimate to be about 15 hours worth of railroading and the manual, it should keep you busy enough to forget you got ties, socks and a scarf again for Christmas. For you all lucky enough to get a Raildriver for Christmas, many of these activities were tested using the Raildriver. Much less frustrating than using the keyboard/mouse.Rich Garber
