So, firstly, a big Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! I'd like to ask you all a question. Will you be playing your MSTS over the Christmas break? What add-ons will be taking your fancy this Christmas then?I'd ljust like to hear that I won't be the only one driving my train around Dresden, arriving at Dieringhausen, passing Heidi at Landquart, delivering logs around Marias Pass and driving a passenger train of tourists to Semmering! It's kind of comforting and reassuring to know that you aren't the only one who enjoys playing MSTS and all the add-ons. While I'm driving my train, someone, somewhere else, maybe even on the other side of the world could be driving their train too, perhaps even on the same journey as mine. Kind of a romantic thought, ain't it, !So here's my annual list, feel free to add your own thoughts, or lists.TOP 3 ADD-ONS OF 20021. PRO TRAIN 2
2. HEIDI EXPRESS (Though I do prefer German Railroad's amount of activities, neat touches and longevity, I find the route in HEIDI EXPRESS much more to my taste. Plus the big box that it came in is fantastic! Little touches like that mean so much. You do get sick of the standard CD-ROM/DVD style case).
3. GERMAN RAILROADS VOL. 1P.S. How many add-ons did you all install, before you all experienced a slowdown in framerates and graphics qulaity?JAY

RE: Best add-ons this year?

Best wishes to you too. I will definitely be playing over Christmas. My favourite add-on is not a route, but activity changer, especially the random AI creator. A few quick clicks and I can have different AI on any activity I want, and sometimes a disaster or two!David

RE: Best add-ons this year?

My vote here for Marias31, which includes reworked activities both dcefault and authored. For the first time ever, I see a major add-on with not only a lot of authored acitivies - this one includes all the non-standard rolling stock files necessary to run those activities. Excellent!I'll be playing this one a lot over the holidays. Also got Kicking Horse Pass last night and will be doing that, a lot of CP rolling stock is included. But I think it will be mostly Marias31.Bing

RE: Best add-ons this year?

One add-on to msts that should really be a permanent add-on to msts in my opinion is Jak Fearon's Sky Conductor 2. If you haven't tried this yet you'll be surprised how much this revolutionizes the sim.Rich Garber

So many great add-ons that came this year,
So many, that it is really not fair making a choice
between all who gave up their spare time to make all those beauty’s,
a few springs to mind, but that will leave out others
So my vote to best add-on of the year goes:
To all who done their best, despite all it’s flaws, to make MSTS a great game.Greets Henk.

RE: Best add-ons this year?

The new Environment Control by Jeff Bush is even better in my opinion because the sky, weather, and water can all be changed and the conflict between Sky Conductor and AWE water is solved.Bill Burnett

RE: Best add-ons this year?

Rich,Yes and no. I no longer use the Sky 2 program, instead I use Environment Control to select the env files from Sky 2. Then I can combine them with any water I want like AWE water in summer and Michael Vone's frozen water in winter. I can use one Sky 2 sky one for summer and a different one for winter, etc.Bill

RE: Best add-ons this year?

I'll definitely manage a *few* hours of trainsimming in between the usual overwork and the seasonal eating & drinking & smoking As for the best add-on: just finished another 2-hour activity on German Railroads 2, and it is by far the best route yet!
That's not to say all the people who are bringing out freeware aren't doing an brilliant job!!Merry christmas and a happy New YearMark van Gorkom.
