I was thinking wouldn't it be cool if there were msts freeware awards for the best freeware route, locomotive/trainset, and best route making helper. The only prize would be to have the right to post this in your signature and readme for your creations. I think we should take nominations and then make a poll of the top ones for each category. Open to suggestions!!!!!!!!!Just an idea!!!!!!!
This has been brought up several times...and shot down several times.I guess the general concensus of the members here was (and perhaps still is) there would be less "pros" then "cons". Touchy subject for some. Though your intentions might be honorable, this subject isn't new; and don't be offended if it gets shot down again. Personally, it's not a bad idea, it basically depends on how it is handled and judged. Good Luck!Kip 3DTS The Priest River Railroad"...it's so fictional, it's almost real" PRRR WesiteNow released: PRRR's Hoodoo Pass Route 1.5 "beta" Coming soon: Hoodoo Pass v.2.0 "Cascadia Edition"
As a musician, I've seen so-called music awards wreak havoc on a music community, no matter how well-intentioned. Good art is its own reward. Though everyone enjoys recognition, a simple 'thank you' or an appreciative comment does far more good than introducing a competitve element.Tim
I'll go along here. I have a definite candidate and I think a lot of TS'ers would agree. But it might be disastrous for other designers who are trying their best to produce good freeware add-ons.When I find a free add-on I think is really good I post my thoughts here on the message forum. Generally, the designers who care about their work check the boards frequently, so I assume they know how I feel.I can also see this sort of thing starting a flame war - something to avoid at Christmas. Bless'em all is the way I feel. All of them do their best to make TS a better and more enjoyable product for others. I've been around and involved with design, testing and reviews in several forums and gamers websites. Not ever, since the dawn of computer gaming, have I found the level of interest and the talent I see here. Merry Christmas to all ... and to all a good night. Bing
Well, if it actually accomplished something in the end it might be a good idea...I think interests in the Train Simulator are a bit too varied to be giving "awards".A likely scenario plays out...Imagine telling someone that the "BIG BOY" is the best steam engine when they only like Deutsches Bundesbahn Dampf Locomotiv models (German Steam)of the 40's... and you've never even taken the time to download one because your interests are limited to the USA.DOH!Pete Willard
