About the Canadian Pacific Holiday Express2002 marks the fourth year for Canadian Pacific Railway's annual Holiday Express program. In early December of each year, two specially-decorated trains cross southern Canada and the northern United States, collecting food and donations for Canadian and U.S. food banks. Since its inception, the Holiday Express program has collected over 73 tons of food and $900,000 (Cdn) in donations. The trains visit over 70 communities, providing holiday entertainment and raising awareness for the issue of hunger. The trains are powered by a GE AC4400CW locomotive, and consist of several freight cars, and a specially-modified "stage" car (a converted 50-foot boxcar with a stage and concert speakers for musical entertainment at scheduled stops). Two preserved heavyweight business cars from Canadian Pacific's Royal Canadian car fleet bring up the rear, to provide quarters for the train's crew and entertainers. The locomotive and all the cars are covered in thousands of multi-colored Christmas lights. For more information about Canadian Pacific's Holiday Train program, including a gallery of images from over the years, visit Canadian Pacific's website at http://www.cpr.ca/.
Wow, really gets one into the Hoilday Season! Thanks!-MIKE-Model Railroader, Railfan, and MSTS user Youth Member La Mesa Model Railroad Club, San Deigo CA "Good Times"
Looks great at least as far as one could do with MSTS. Looks like I am going to step on getting the CP Tomah and River sub route done so we all have some place to run it next year. Attach are some images of the real train in Tomah and La Crosse, WI.PS. To be real accurate one would have the run with the CP 9501 for a little while as the air compressor on the real 8638 died as they left La Crosse on December 10. (The mechs were able to get it running again in Lake City, MN).
WOW........Thanks a lot guys. A great gift. I'm downloading as i write this and the timing couldn't have been better. I just got back to the house from watching the HOLIDAY TRAIN pass through our town an hour ago. The only difference i can see from your screen shots is that it had 8642 on the point. Great looking train, the real one and this one. Gotta go try it out, thanks again. Cheeeers...Mike
