After a year, and almost 11,000 downloads, we thought it was time to update Marias Pass 3.0. The changes aren't as major as they were in 3.0, more like some fine tuning. The installation process was changed to make a stand alone install, using RouteRiter and Clickteam to do the packaging. The package was broken into 7 parts, each around 12 MB. Why so big? The activities!I re-converted the activities that were included in MP3.0 and added many more that were released after 3.0 came out. For those that use non-standard rolling stock, I included the necessary stock in the MP3.1 packaging. MP3.1 does NOT use or need XTracks, but should co-exist with it just fine if you already have it installed. It DOES need all 6 of the original routes to be present during the installatiion. In the case where you have replaced USA2 with Marias3, you can simply rename the Marias3 directory temporarily, run the MP31 install, and name it back. We've cleaned up the road crossings, removing most of the concrete thingies and raising the roads to make more realistic looking crossings. I've included tree textures from Judd Spitler and new crossing gates by Bruce Bridges, complete with flashing lights.Almost all of the mainline crossovers and single to two track splits have had the 10 degree switches replaced with 5 degree switches. These are much more realistic looking. This caused a couple of switches to be relocated, such as the Marias crossover, because we needed a longer stretch of straight track than was available at the original point. We also cleaned up a few odds and ends from MP3.Paul and I want to thank you for downloading MP3. We never dreamed it would reach almost 11,000 downloads. Here's to MP3.1!Bob Siederer

RE: Marias Pass 3.1 is in the library

Neither can I speak for the rest, but IMHO, you and Paul have done an excellent job (again!)! The realism has definately moved up a few more natches! The now even smoother grade adjustments, the use of more dynamic track, and the efforts of Okrasa, Judd, and Bruce have certainly changed the feel of the route for the better.I still don't understand why people want to go back to the 'roller coaster ride' of the original when there's MP3 and now MP3.1 to use! (maybe b/c of the intact activities I guess?)Thanks and keep up the good work, cdntrains

RE: Marias Pass 3.1 is in the library

If I sent the files to you on e-mail, how would that help? You would still have to receive them over your 56K modem? What am I missing?Bob Siederer

RE: Marias Pass 3.1 is in the library

I ran an engine between Whitefish and Columbia Falls and watched that camera angle the entire way and did not see the blob. The camera was back in the trees at some points, so I did see tree branchs flashing by, but nothing like that image. If you can give me the exact lat/long coordinates when you see this, I can take another look around that spot. I believe this problem is caused by corruption in the world tile caused by unpacking using the utility instead of the editor. Usually, make some change to the offending tile (any change, just moving an object a few inches) and resaving the tile will cause the corruption to be fixed. Someone was writing a utility to correctly unpack these files but I don't remember who or if it got released. I know Routeriter was going to include it at some point. Perhaps it has already.Bob Siederer

I haven't sent anything to clemy@stargate.net. I'm not going to spend hours uploading these files unless I can understand how you get them faster when they are sent via e-mail than when you download them from train-sim. Both ways, they still come through your 56K modem.Bob Siederer

RE: Marias Pass 3.1 is in the library

Cable transfer is faster because the sender sends the file in the time that they downloaded and the receiver gets it the same timeband. I have received major files from cable users in 14 seconds. But 56k would take a lifetime.
